Super thunderstorm here between 18.30-19.00 this evening, unfortunately while I was out but my fantastic mother recorded it for me! Whiteout of hail with a number of loud bangs of thunder. This would have been the storm that went onto towards the Mendips into Somerset. Bristol however was dry throughout.

Had a lot of rain and hail this afternoon and this beautiful monster of an anvil in the distance a little earlier this evening!

In the end heading to the Humber paid off and then chased around Lincolnshire, just got back. Being Lincolnshire I was certain to not be disappointed. Storm clouds, gust fronts, hailstones, roads covered in hail, bolts of lightning, ground shaking thunder. Just an ordinary day for Lincolnshire folk but exciting for a visitor such as me :-)

Had a couple of short storms (and hail) yesterday evening back home in Bexleyheath between 6-7pm.  Hopefully we get some decent storms this summer that last hours (rather than minutes!)

Slight risk of storms today mainly in Lincolnshire and Norfolk.

post-2809-0-99313800-1432113463_thumb.pn

Triggering for storms appears to be a convergence zone developing along the east coast.

post-2809-0-34159500-1432113541_thumb.pn

Instability is fairly weak but should be enough given daytime heating is not blocked by cloud (which is a risk).

post-2809-0-35187800-1432113557_thumb.pn

Low mid level vorticity charts show some development is possible.

post-2809-0-00593200-1432113534_thumb.pn

Forecast skewT's and mid level lapse rates suggest cloud tops may be limited, but there is a risk of spout like weak tornadoes along convergence zones (low level winds turning).

Over all the limited cloud tops and warmer upper layers will limit development. The low zero degree isotherm presents a possible hail risk. I am not convinced from the forecast air profile that storms are really viable, so would suggest the risk is very limited. Sharp downpours in some eastern counties most likely.

I would say chances for my neck of the woods for anything electrical are comfortably <10%...extensive cloud cover (after a glorious start earlier) making the sky a stratified mess, chilly feeling, just meh!

Prospects thereafter pretty dire on the outlook, bar slim chances later this week for the SE. Outlook generally is NW'erly rubbish.

As for a plume (or even generally warm/hot weather), nothing of any note on the horizon

An upgrade of OpenSuse linux based operating system is causing an issue and preventing the site being available.

Had 2 hail showers today so far in and around Norwich. The second one just southwest of Norwich about 45 mins ago, pea size and lasted longer. Cloud tops notably higher than yesterday due to I guess the convergence zone helping with forcing. Now in Cambridge for work and its getting dark again.
