Just seen a massive flash to the SW! Very good view of that Northampton storm even from here. Must be very high based

It's already looking good for convection here in Manchester. It's 20°C and there's pockets of Acas and distant Cb.

Is that looking S per chance? Can see that Cb from here to the SE, a lot closer though obviously.

Has been a fun night here, saw 5 flashes to the west and a few deep rumbles. Hopefully this heat delivers the goods!

Yes. Here is another photo now that it's a bit closer:

There's a high-based CB with anvil near to Buxton, but looks to be more of a capped AcCas development than anything with potential.

Woke up to 3 rumbles - looked out the window and saw these beauts being lit from below by the sun (looking NE)

Out the front middle level cells demonstrated nicely how you do not need surface heating for this stuff.post-9179-0-20885100-1435724845_thumb.jp

Nice line of storms moving NE across biscay

Currently a few high based showers with one or two rumbles across the Midlands. There is an army of thunderstorms across France heading in this direction, some of these look to hit South Devon shortly. Here it is sunny and dry with a deep pink sunrise and just one or two high clouds but temperatures already at 16c with a dewpoint of 12c.

Here I am just under the Estofex Level 2 but most of the UK is under the Level 1. Still at this range a great deal of divergence regarding where storms will break out today, and we are now into the period of action. The best I could do to try and guess is follow wind convergence, and there are a few - most being across Wales around Midday and moving into NW England then N England (Hull to Carlisle) and numerous ones in Scotland. I would guess at N Wales, NW England and then the north Pennines along with most of Scotland being best placed but really anywhere could see a storm.

Active storm making UK soil just east of Plymouth. A sign of things to come I hope.

A very disturbed and thundery sky here in Manchester. Once that sun gets up there, I can really see those clouds going up. :)

Morning all can see cbs to the south.

Is that slow moving storm still over France / the channel?

Will probably hit too far east of me if so but you never know

I know beggars can't be choosers but I would personally like the storms to hold off until mid-afternoon. I want to see what temperatures today is capable of generating first, and thunderstorms would only suppress them.

32°C in Manchester is very plausible this afternoon.

It looks like there is lightning heading towards Exeter. I wonder if anyone further South in Devon can confirm this?

Don't storms make you "ill" ? ;)
