A mix of cloud and clear patches here at 08.00. A mild night - it was 13.2C when I went up the wooden hill and 13.3C when I got up at 06.30. Should be very pleasant when we see more of the sun later.

Well that turned out to be a very disappointing day. I've been working outdoors at a small Suffolk village called Milden and for most of the day it's been cloudy with a very stiff breeze. There was even 5 minutes of drizzle at lunch time. The wind chill made it feel perishing. Some decent sunny spells finally turned up around 16.00 and the wind dropped right out. Too late to cheer me up by then.

Well there was sunshine for a time this morning before more cloud arrived, which finally cleared at 4pm.

So trying to recreate a summer 2015 day then....

The only good thing about it being chilly is I can wear my woolly hat.

Well at least the past few days have felt like Autumn has kicked into gear...trees are really starting to shed their leaves, nice colours of yellows, reds, and musty browns this year this is probably due to cool mornings. :)

My neighbourhood is full of rats :shok: Looks like that Scandi high will get knocked about a bit and end up sending its -10 uppers to Greece instead. :( 11.5c

This legendary woolly hat you keep mentioning...........does it look like this

Lowest overnight temp so far this Autumn - got down to 2.5C. And the cloud has rolled in now, so there's not going to be any warm sunshine today. I'm working outside again - I could do with Dami's woolly hat! :)

Not great again, mostly cloudy all day. Tomorrow looks damp before the sun returns on Sunday.

Meh, cloudy today. Saw a nice Boeing Stearmen byplane fly over though, which was nice. :)

Looks quite wet tomorrow  :nonono: .

Well it's cloudy again. At least there is a nice trip to Cambridge in the offering today. Time for another big-ass burrito :)

Grey and cloudy at the moment, with a slight dampness in the air. Off to the Isle of Wight tomorrow  :D

Fizzle snizzling out there.

Just had the first go at clearing the leaves before the rain hits. If it does.

Same here.  PPN seems to be sliding along the front in a S-N direction, so we've missed the worst so far.

Edit - first band has passed through - pretty wet outside.

It did rain earlier on nothing significant, it has been a very dry October, I'm also quite happy to see the return of GMT! it is more convenient for us model watchers and with horrible days like this...a interesting statistic Monday after clocks go back in October heart attacks fall by 21 per cent, Reuters reported.

A brief squall pushed through here, not much else to say about today.

With GMT returning I can now comment on the models before work now (6am start).

Not a great day. Dribs and drabs, spits and spots.... But this evening's rainfall radar showing a more active spell of rain passing over Surrey, Sussex and Kent.

Mowed the lawns today and I'm hoping the forecast ground frost overnight tonight will finally stamp out any further growth this side of March!!

P.S. Interesting stat in your post above Dan. I wonder why that is?

Well I suspect we had a grass frost here as it got down to 2.3C. But with the extra hour in bed I've missed witnessing it! There seems to be a lot of high level cloud about at the mo, so a milky sky rather than clear blue.

Next week looking like a blocking high to the east holds low pressure to the west of us, so a largely mild, breezy week with a southerly draw. Spell of rain mid and end of week.

I actually just read in the MOD thread:

"Some useful rain for gardens this coming week"

I'm sorry but are they having a laugh or what. It's the end of October.. We have another 5 months at least of pi**ing rain and wet days.

Pretty sure my garden does NOT need rain. Neither does the fields.. Bogged walking the dogs this morning.

As mentioned before, I find it incredibly cringe when folks say "we need rain"

This is the UK not Dubai.

Rant over!
