Been outside with the back light on and if I've observed it correctly, there's some little sleety bits mixed in with the rain just now. Temperature around 3.5*C with a Dewpoint around 2.5*C (but slowly dropping). Would be nice to see it turn into full on snow, but even sleety rain is a bit more exciting than just 100% pure rain (lol).

Whilst you're out there, would you mind powering down the Solihull Snow Shield please? There's a good chap :good:

Latest report from Solihull...

Stopped raining/sleeting 30 mins ago. (2nd downpour of the day).

Interestingly the temp is continuing to fall. Now down to 2.9C, with DP getting down to 0.8C.

That is because the RH has dropped to 87%.

Many places in the extreme north and west of the region (and Liverpool area ) are now reporting lowering temps and more widespread sleet and even some snow.

With the next burst of sleet/rain showing up in Wales, it could well lower temps further so we could well see some flakes overnight.

Long live Shefali......... and now

A severe level 2 alert has just been issued for Staffordshire for ice.

Still, (after Alex D)  some hopes for tonight /tomorrow morning for our area as the cold weather continues to sink south.

Come on you Cheshire gap - Fire up!!:cold::yahoo:

Not a bad looking BBC forecast tonight, especially Alex Deakin on the national one. Friday looked potentially interesting! (Unlike here now: 3 °C and dry.)

Precipitation starting to show more sleet and snow now.

Wonder if we'll get a dusting after all? :-)

Still just sleet here... very light as well so the ground is still not saturated. if we get any snow later/ early hours it may well stick... Tomorrow looks interesting up till early afternoon and Friday could give some surprises too.... Fergieweather with an interesting tweet that was copied into the MOD.... Hints of a return to Zonality but for latitudes south of UK....

Radar drying up now. Just some showers in Wales which almost always fail to make it here so not expecting anything now. Already feeling massively underwhelmed by this cold spell. We finally get the cold but only with high pressure. The perfect combination can never seem to make it to the uk anymore.

About 1-2 cm of lying snow judging from a look out of the window. The heaviest precipitation moved south to the west of here, through Staffordshire and into the West Midlands.

Precip that's popped up in the last hour near the lake district could effect us later as it moves south. Should all be snow by then if it hits us.
