Good to see Scotland at least is in full winter mode.. the Highlands much be seeing a very good early cover of snow, great news for the ski resorts. Despite a milder blip mid week, snow on highest ground should consolidate sufficiently thanks to freeze thaw cycle.

Hoping somewhere can record -10 degrees tomorrow night, a nice welcome to winter 15/16.

Showers like ships passing in the night here, keep missing them, cars got slushy partially frozen cover on roofs so must have had blast of snow just recently; windscreen is freezing up on my car despite it being quite windy.

Mother nature at its Winter Best with moonlit snow covered fields.

Incoming snow showers to the west  lit up by the moon and to crown it all snow showers to the north across the Firth backlit by an aurora. Fabulous

Snow surface sparkling in a frosty wind of   -0.5c

Seen BBC weather there and see a warm front now brushing into Ireland.. It looks likely to just miss us before another warm front pushes in by Tuesday major difference in temperature to come.. It may be wet in places even snow for a time but it saves me dodging these heavy showers of last few days.. Still hoping for some Polar Continental air mass this winter something I only recall we had once last year between Xmas and New Year..

Quite a breezy 1.4C under clear skies here. We've only had a slight additional dusting since this afternoon's snap blizzard. What we got then though is still lying, in a frozen crunchy crust.

If we could just get the wind to swing round to a little more of a northerly direction more of those showers might make it to me. But that's probably just being greedy.

Snowed more than not this evening, some heavy prolonged periods and still going strong now so should be a good top up come morning

A9 down to one lane and the information sign south of Inverness reads *Snow gates closed after Tomintoul* which is the always the rubber stamp that the months of winter fun are truly upon us

It rained for a good bit last night so all the snow is melted. That weather front coming in looks further north than expected? Maybe a wee surprise for somebody!

Nae Snaw, nae ice, but still very cold. I'm off to light the stove and feed the chooks and ducks. Rain coming in by the look of things.
