Aye, just been to Edinburgh Airport and back.

Rain at the house when I left with Sleet at Soutra. Wet snaw on the higher section of the bypass with the Pentlands white.

On the way back snaw at Soutra and lying on the road. T has also dropped a couple of C at the house. Now 2.0 C with moderate wet snaw.

Our lying snow all gone this morning; rain showers. Temp at the airport +06.

"ECM great run... ECM poor run; GFS trending towards ECM... GFS rock solid... METO unreliable... trust the METO..." etc.

No wonder I get confused reading the Model thread!

I'm surprised there's no weather warning out for rain for parts of Scotland, some of the precip totals between now and midnight are 50mm+ in spots with quite widespread 20mm. We're not out of the woods regarding flooding yet.

925 hPa description makes sense Catch, LS is your guy for these, I looked at learning skew T and Tephigrams, but then I thought better of it!

I cannot get my head round these either but I do find the atmosphere 'cuts' on Meteociel a better visual aid for me.

ARPEGE now has specific charts for UK - click on map and new window opens with several parameters.

http://www.meteociel.com/modeles/coupes_arpege.php?region=uk&ech=3&mode=2

This an example for old home area.

Rain > snow then back to rain, or is it off, not sure still can see a flake falling here and there.

Edit - now rain/sleet but big fkn flakes mixed in, cmoan weather gods do us a turn!

Brilliant Nouska, many thanks for that link - another new chart to play around with.

So, it's not clear instantly but when you cursor then click on the UK Map it opens a new window that shows the slice of the atmosphere.

You can also move the time stamp for the run and select Envoyer to load that frame. In addition you can select the from and to for heights in the atmosphere.

This from 850 - 1000 at 96 hrs

The other great one @Nouska located on meteociel was the Table format, great for looking at the entire ensemble suite.

http://www.meteociel.fr/modeles/gefs.php?carte=1&table=1

Again a click of the map brings a pop up window with all the ENS runs listed from current going forward. Brilliant for identifying the more extreme solutions to then go and feast your eyes on the chart output. http://www.meteociel.fr/modeles/gefs_cartes.php?ech=0&code=0&mode=0

Thanks Nouska, you keep finding some amazing resources, the contribution is much appreciated.

table_kly1.thumb.png.65dd54f3e2401468667

Edit - add chart. e.g using table above can see run number 5 coldest as far as 850hPa is concerned, bringing the -10C across the country on Saturday.

Someone must be doing really well right now, here cold and damp at 2.6C and with that band of ppn stalled south of Edinburgh-Glasgow.

Thanks guys - the person who really deserves the credit is  @SylvainTV  for providing all the useful features on Meteociel.

PS - how do I make that a blue mouseover link like you have done; he's a member on here.

Keeps alternating between sleet and heavy rain. Mountain's must be getting clobbered with the white stuff
