Hopefully! But I don't think that's the rain finished for the night though...

Further heavy rain, although easing for a time this evening before becoming heavier again in early hours (Met Office).

Sure is a day full with weather thoughts goes to those folk and properties which are endangered by rising flood water with Christmas not so far away an awful time for the year for it - any time of year is bad! Unfortunately the NW is prone to such events once in a 10 year event this one is I imagine? The worst is yet to come...

It wouldn't suprised me if we lost a bridge tonight. The Kent bridge in Kendal is currently acting as a stopper for water (its arches being full)and it is creating a pressure gradient which is being released every few seconds.

There's a couple on the Eden looking risky too.

There was a report on Cumbria crack the coledale High Bridge near Braithweight had been washed away already. Not sure how vital a bridge that is (I guess they all are!) but illustrates your point, think I saw a report another South of Kendal had gone too.

Apparently the Coledale High Bridge in Braithwaite has collapsed.

Kendal looks very badly hit indeed with more rainfall to come...furthering woes.

Puts it into perspective, the rain here has been relentless and annoying, yet it's not on the same level as those in Cumbria and other places are enduring with flooding.

I really hope it eases soon and the minimal amount of damage is caused. It really has been nasty for quite a while now in the NW.

Cockermouth getting submerged, looks like 2009 all over again.

Flood defences well and truly overcome now in Keswick, it's getting worse as all the water comes down off the high ground.

Bad news, the rain is pepping up again... Unbelievable scenes emerging as water levels continue to rise and are likely to rise further through the night.

Another issue once the main area of rain clears through will be all the rain thats fallen on the hills it can only go one way sadly...

Certainly not getting patchier/lighter...intensification if anything for some parts.
