Yes, absolute beaut of a day! 0.1c.. Time to get scraping the ice off the car.

at least we have had more frosts this winter than last.. That's sort of a bonus right...?

It was definitely frostier last winter than this winter here and for other parts of the region I'd have thought?

Absolute beaut of a morning though, a light frost (-1.4c min) and the most clear air and blue sky. Such a contrast to yesterday, more please.

I've just been out for drive and got hit by a heavy sleet shower just a few miles north of Exmouth! :D

Yes indeed, last winter was good for frost, just not for snow.

A few light ones but I don't remember hard frost lasting day to day at all with ice days or even ground frost lasting day to day building up?

More eye candy on mod thread but I can't be bothered to even get interested this time around unless it fell from the sky. :nonono:

Yep last year 27 frosts to this year's 8!

Incidentally there are snow showers on the higher moor currently.

Yes they weren't particularly severe (for me that is below -4C), only one night went below that, 23rd Jan I think. The main frosty periods I remember were late December, mid January and the first half of February. There were also intermittent frosts outside of that.

Yes we had quit a few here but not too severe (-6.7C in December 2014 the lowest).  31 nights below freezing last winter, 14 so far this winter (including tonight)

Probably varies between area and valleys/hills though.

Cold and frosty this evening however, -1.7C and right now I seem to be the coldest station on Wunderground west of Wincanton in Somerset (which is also at -1.7C)..

This is why I should keep records because I don't remember last winter being frosty at all! This winter I've got through a can of de-icer.. Last year I didn't use it!

variable temperatures across my patch tonight, just driven back from Weston where it was 4c, it got down to -2 going up Cheddar Gorge and it's 2c here at home. Didn't seem overly cold on Mendip (I wanted to take the scenic route home to see if it was colder up top!)

That's it, I've had enough, my snow searching towel is thrown!!

Considering the SE couldn't muster a single flake from last nights system, after such potential, I feel sums up the winter nicely.

I know there's a bit of hype surrounding the end of this month and into March but there seems to be too many things not going our way (not enough cold over the continent etc), so I just feel we'll have more marginal events and end up disappointed.

If it does end up snowing then you can all thank me for it considering I've declared my resignation :D:rofl:

Made me have a look at my records, forgot that I had them if I'm honest. It makes for grim viewing lol

Wouldn't it just be typical. After the winter we have endured, we deserve a nice Spring, but it doesn't look likely.

As per Ian F's post in the Mod thread

Great. I think we have all had enough now, this would be so damn typical. I want warmth now... Praying for a nice summer

Icy start on untreated surfaces, lots of pedestrians slipping over after wetness has frozen over night.

Aside from Wednesday, it's been a decent week. Another cracking morning...

Sat24.com is showing up the rain and other such muck that's on it's way for the afternoon and rest of the weekend. Boo.. hiss..

Edit : I must try to get rid of that smudge on my lens. It really annoying, but I'm b*ggered if I can find it.

That's the 'Purbeck Microclimate' as shown in your location right there! Quite astonishing the complete absence of frost for you last Jan/Feb.

A nice frost here earlier with a min of -3.1c at 05:11, rising a little by sunrise.

I've just noticed the Met Office has now changed to the 'oranges only' colour scheme for temperature on their homepage, forecast maps, and website widget (e.g. on my site), doesn't look right!

0 frosts in Jan and Feb 2015, are you sure?
