Looking at the temps for mid week the suggestion is for 7C during the day, that's not cold, by any means. With those sort of day time temps, it'll even feel like warm rain.

I hate to think what your idea of feeling cold is if we are going off the models Dorset :D

straw clutching probably, but should this verify would it not give at least an outside chance of a wintry shower coming in off the sea along southwestern coasts?

Sheet of low St with mist and slight rain. Feels very muggy with temp of 10C and wind WNW 15mph.

Looking at this morning's outputs the percentage play for the next few days looks very much like cold and dry with temps below average and the chances of any significant precipitation very small.

Well Ian has just brought my crashing back to earth in the Mod thread with his latest post, so looks like I must have had my drink spiked the past few days as I clearly misinterpreted this cool spell for a COLD Brrrrr spell.

It really has I don't think we will see anything settle on the ground other than the rain in this cold spell.

As I said the other day, I was at the very least hoping for a long dry spell, but even that now seems to be in jeopardy.

Last thing we want to see was frontals coming in from the South west, as we know it will inevitably end in a rain fest for us and transient snow for the rest of the  Country.

Enjoy the dry frost sunny next few day's

Good Morning all,

Fairly mild this morning, but at least that wind has dropped.

Cold, cool whatever spell this week, I'll believe it when I see it.

I wouldn't worry about it......it's certainly not set in stone.........no one model, person or weather agency can dictate the weather, the only thing anyone/model can do is give their interpretation of a possible solution to the weather for the days ahead......enjoy the ride and what will be, will be :)

Drizzly this morning, grey skies prevail. Top temp over the weekend was 13°C

Temp: 9°C - Hum: 78% - Dew: 5.4°C - Bar:  1010.49hPa - Wind:  WNW/NW @ 9mph

A typical patch of seasonal weather for a time then? Not sure why the "freezer" terminology is bounding around?

Mapantz, I think it's because so many people are desperate for a severe wintry spell!

The better conditions have already arrived with hazy sunshine and a slowly clearing sky after a drizzly morning, this should set us up for a dry week from here with sunny days and frosty nights ; ideal for the ground to dry out as it is saturated around here.

I can foresee a number of days with temperatures ranging between 8c maxes and -4c mins which is pretty perfect.

Just took the dog out for a walk and when the sunny was shining it felt lovely. If the next week or so is going to be like today, then that's fine by me.

So I see the possible front approaching from west although a long way off still is likely to be of rain currently.. :whistling:

I better start panic buying now this is going to be a real winter event

Just seen the forecast after the news & temps of 7-9c by day & hard frosts at night.

Apart from the frosts at night, you can't really call it cold, I mean 7-9c must be the day time average for Feb!

Yes, this week's weather is nothing unusual for February really. Average daytime temps and a bit below average at night. Kinda what I'd expect really. Anything wintry would be a bonus, and if the front at the end of the week is likely to be of rain, I'd rather not have it at all!

Totally agree MP-R, there's every chance that front would be of rain with temps of 7-9c, unless it comes in overnight that is. But it would melt in the sun the following day, so basically keep it well away.

I think the issue has been a lack of sustaineddeep cold air to pull into  across most of Europe .

I remember several occasions when a low-pressure positioned just to the south really priduced cold air and heavy snow .

Think we can pretty much right off this winter and look forward to summer ,hopefully hot weather, nice thunderstorms before the anticipation of next winter .
