Cloudless starry skies here and temperatures have just dipped below zero.

the radar has a large clump of showers heading out of the southern Yorkshire Dales and currently in my direction but these have been fizzling all evening so i can't see much if anything coming from this other than the cloud that will drag temperatures up again.

Could turn icy when the skies clear as the ground is now damp!

I've lost all hope for Wednesday, every potential cold snap/spell this winter has been downgraded!

Me too pretty much. I accept we live in the worst place of our region but this and last winter have been dire. This winter is goin to be remembered for all the wrong reasons.

I'm not far off giving up  either.  I just have 2 straws to  clutch : march can be a great snow month around here, and  Liverpool weather has a  habit of springing surprises...or at least it used too.

The showers seem to be decaying as they move over the Pennines. Looks like no snow cover here tonight. The flow needs to be more east then they normally have no problems getting over. But no signs of a switch in wind direction tonight.

Thought it'd be colder this morning under clear skies & colder air has moved in from the north, must be the breeze. Currently -0.2c, frosty and some ice after last nights rain may need a chisel to open the car door!

Was not as sunny yesterday afternoon as was forecasted by the METO, it has cleared by early pm but very soon cumulus invaded from the north. Here is your "clear skies" late pm, above the Vale of Clwyd. :) and no frost here this morning, currently 1.9C, it is just too much breeze.

We also didn't manage an air frost. Hovering at 0.2C at the coldest time of the day. Pretty rubbish really when we're in a slack Northerly; perfectly still with sub -6C uppers.

Sums this winter up nicely doesn't it really?

BBC online as my local forecast as rain to start on wed but turning to snow later on it's backedge, indeed they have a 2 snow (heavy snow) graphic by 3pm and light snow after that....

....all to be taken with a large amount of salt, probably as much as what still remains leftover in the Cheshire underground salt mines.  Cold today though, feels much colder than 4c and a widespread frost overnight.

Another sparkling day here,with wall

to wall winter sunshine,does not

Feel overly cold either,midweek looks

a complete mess with heavy rain

and the possibility of back edge

snow,and with the front stalling

A possibility of longer spells of

rain/snow combination yuk

Well had three snow showers yesterday.... As the sun was setting could see light snow shower towards mottram....  Fell to -4c last night with really hard white sparkling frost and iced over puddles and ponds.... Was in buxton early and you could see the sprinkles of snow still and hard white frost everywhere.... Looking forward to wednesday and what it might bring..... I was thinking maybe some places could even start with freezing rain as the ground may well be cold but the transistion to sleet/snow could spring a few suprises.... Ukmo, Ecm and gfs seem to be, atm, wanting for a quicker transistion.... Bbc have a max of 2c here wednesday....

Temps lifted quite quickly in stronger Feb sunshine this aft, up to 5.4c although it'll start to fall over the next hour or so as the sun heads towards the horizon.
