We lose the offshore wind win the front arrives so then it's game over.

Louise's forecast was very messy for Wednesday. It was a proper sleety rainy snowy mess! I think elevation will be key. Not a chance here by the looks of it!

Something else interesting is that Louise's forecast and the front stalling Wednesday morning, more or less over our region, changing from a cold front heading east, to a warm front heading west. A very complicated scenario.

The latter would be better:)

I am so looking forward to commuting into Manchester on my bike on Wednesday in freezing rain/sleet.

Not.

But if it makes a few in the model thread happy to see a few flakes of wet snow...

This winter has been diabolical so far worse than last Winter for me

Tonight is likely to be the coldest night of the year according to the bbc weather forecasts.

Well, this annoying cloud needs to melt away soon for this to happen.

Sharp drop in temp since 5pm. 0.9c now, clear and calm, gonna be a chilly dog walk after tea.

Cleared up here. BBC seem to suggest that snow is most likely early on Wednesday, rather than later.

Updated peak district forecast..... Very topsy turvy temps..... Hopefully lots of snow..... If it stays right side of marginal some places could get a pretty 6-8 inches....

That's REALLY interesting, as the BBC were stuck on the snow being early on, then more to rain later, this is practically saying the opposite!

Woke up to a light covering of snow on the drive, lawn and cars.

came home to all of the snow on the drive and lawn not exposed to the sun fully intact so at last the ground must be starting to cool down.

hopefully that, and the expected hard frost tonight should help with settling snow as the front moves across the region tomorrow night and into Wednesday.

all we need then is some cold uppers and little mixing taking place and bingo.

Minus 1 now under starry skies, very calm but back to normal tomorrow afternoon with heavy rain and winds near gale force! Enjoyed the last few days it's been the driest and brightest period I've had all winter.

It really is a mess mid week, high ground will get a good pasting

But as i say for lower lying areas it is a very messy picture.

We shall see what transpires but i am not at all confident
