GFS and Harmonie still going for snow for us on Sat but Arpege says no.  Arome takes the snow just South of the region.

Inclined to say lets get Eunice out the way tomorrow and we might then have a better idea re Sat.

Are we ready ..
I am a few miles north of the Amber warning .. so,   in the Yellow.
Candles, storm lamp, primer stove, pre-cooked big pan of chicken curry
lined up.
Bins laid down in the garden.
Pouring down with rain as I type.   Yuk.

It’s been slinging it down with rain on and off most of night here but it’s remarkably calm at the moment.  I’d expected the wind to be starting to get up by now, although the strongest gusts are forecast for this afternoon.

High res models still going for worst of the winds in the South West and South East, but also still showing possibility of a sting jet across South Lincs and Midlands mid afternoon.

I agree, same here in Wakefield. Quite cosy in bed listening to the rain all night. As for the wind - strangely very calm right now. Barely a breath of air.

A lot of standing water on back roads driving to work this morning, one such stretch of water was deep enough to set off the parking sensors!

So does it look like we are in no mans land today? Missing the worst of the wind (thankfully) but no snow either?

I had some snow symbols showing that have now all gone

Looking at the pressure charts the wind looks to really ramp up at lunch time and will be very strong between then and early evening as the system exits into the North Sea.

Between 2 and 4 is the peak. 60-80mph for the southern half of the region hitting closer to the bottom end. Lincolnshire looks nasty and possibly south yorkshire if the models are 40 miles out with possible sting jet formation. North yorkshire a strong gale 50-60mph widely

It’s not to bad here in grimsby at the min but The wind has started to pick up a little , does anyone have an estimation when it will peak in this area? As I have to walk my daughter to gymnastics at 4pm and collect her at 19:30, don’t really want to be going out in it if it’s going to be bad. Cheers

No thanks!

Honestly i thought here in south yorks we were going to miss damaging winds especially with us only being under a yellow warning (well my area is anyways)

It can stay away, really dont want the strong gusts.

The Humber Bridge, which links Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, will close to all vehicles and pedestrians from 13:30 GMT due to Storm Eunice.

It's thought to be only the fourth time the suspension bridge has closed due to weather in its 40-year history.

The bridge is likely to be closed for several hours, its operators said, and drivers face a diversion of about 60 miles.

A wind gust of 122mph has been recorded on the Isle of Wight in what is thought to be a new record for England, the Met Office said.

The wind speed was reported at The Needles on the Isle of Wight

Do the Met office ever get the snow right for West Yorkshire
