Sure it will be headline news Friday if the south gets a bit windy

Its going to be more than 'a bit windy' if it goes as per most of the models are predicting, they don't handle 60mph gusts well, never mind the 80+ forecast.

Warning out for us now for Friday for Snow and Wind -

Quote

Snow, heavy in places, is likely to develop on the northern side of Storm Eunice as it moves across the UK on Friday. There is still uncertainty in the track of Storm Eunice and not all areas within the warning area are expected to see snow. However, some places may see around 5 cm of snow at low levels away from coasts. Accumulations are expected to be significantly higher over hills though with 10-20 cm perhaps up to 30 cm possible above around 250 metres. Strong winds occurring at the same time may lead to very poor visibility, blizzard conditions and drifting of lying snow.

Lol.

Are we still expecting the snow band to be in our area (and I assume northwards)?

Is our region looking at seeing some snow from this on friday?

Im not excited about strong winds at all, but im hoping for some snow.

The extreme winds can stay south (hopefully everyone stays safe)

North Yorkshire, West Yorkshire its likely. South Yorkshire / East Yorkshire its more a possible.

Dudley has arrived here, strong winds and heavy rain, just in time for the School run

Might see some snow on Saturday as the low is tracking further south and we are on the northern edge.

Storm Arwen back in November saw a max gust of 110mph above Settle (460m) in North Yorkshire and we have already seen a gust of 100mph on Wether Fell (515m) near Hawes this afternoon.

Some sort of squall like feature just went through 10 minutes ago, very gusty winds, poor visibility and lashing with rain. That was  crazy 5 minutes! Sure i saw one flash of lightning earlier also!

Anyone seen lighting? Seen a few now! Also note winds really fire up and seems to calm for a few minutes. Weird.

Real nasty weather as that squall moves through. Very gusty winds and driving rain. Just getting back from walking the dog as it hit.
