Now sleeting here, looks to be a nice batch of showers entering stage left so could be an interesting drive to work at Cleckheaton in half an hours time. I imaging there's a covering at Birstall.

Quite interested in this setup now with the radar looking encouraging for the next few hours. My place of work is at 220m ASL so no issues with marginality today. Just a question of intensity really... hoping for a reasonable covering here

Heavy wet snow when I left Garforth, turned to sleet around Stourton on the M1, then snow all the way on the M62 but only a slushy cm or so of accumulation between Tingley and Birstall (200m asl). A dusting of slush on the grass at Cleckheaton with wet snow falling again now. All in all, a typical underwhelming westerly slushfest unless you are about 300m up (Queensbury is probs a winter wonderland) but it was nice to see some falling snow. Looks like the big batch has passed through now with speckly showers following on behind.

Only had ~3cm's of it so far here. Bit disappointing given have done well in similar set-ups before.

A covering of snow here pretty much what I would expect under -7 uppers.

Looking on the  North Yorkshire Road Cameras only places with a full covering of snow are Cowling and Ribblehead. Settle has some but, guess height was the limiting factor there. Really was a tops of Pennines only event as far as Yorkshire is concerned.

Edit: Grassington has a good covering as well, would guess that camera is high up as doesn't look to be in the village.

Couple of snow showers just going through but far too brief and wet to settle

Blue sky and sunshine now but it was a very icy start here.
Treacherous walking on the pavements and roads.

In fairness the slushy dusting has remained unmelted so I wonder if there were some lower dew points that came in after the big shower early on in West Yorkshire. Been dry for a couple of hours now and only spotty showers showing on radar. Westerlies are always disappointing

Frequent showers here in Sheffield. Snow showers moderate in intensity but they have now become more sleety.
A patchy slushy snow cover on some grassy surfaces.
So don’t be fooled for thinking Sheffield is getting a pasting - the wintry precipitation is simply too wet in nature.

Generally speaking, I never get too excited about snow showers or frontal snow from a west or NWly.
What I miss most is low pressures coming up from the south / south west  having snow on their northern flanks. I remember and miss these annual snow events that gave a thick cover even in lower areas of the city - I don’t remember the last time this happened now. Something has changed.

Yes your right, I was just thinking the same funnily enough!

Knew today wouldn't be good, the flows are too moist from that direction and there really isn't much convection on the radar
