I noticed last week the website raintoday.co.uk is down. It was a really useful rainfall radar that was perfect for using on a mobile in terms of zooming and moving around. Does anyone have any free websites or apps that I can use that was just as good as raintoday.co.uk ? Please don't suggest metoffice it's pinch and zoom and not mobile optimised.

Warning issued for Sunday for Rain, covers the Pennines in our region. Was hoping they were going to get this out today as potential for a lot of rain, given there is surface flooding around here today with only these 'small' amounts it shows that there is going to be issues on Sunday.

Quote

A band of heavy rain will affect parts of northwest England on Sunday, and become slow-moving for a time, with some very heavy rain, especially over high ground. The duration and intensity of the rainfall could bring widespread totals of 20 to 40 mm, but some exposed sites may see 75 to 100 mm on Sunday - however - this will fall on to already-saturated ground. The rain should clear south by Sunday evening.

Could well see it upgrading to Amber tomorrow if the high totals keep appearing.

Normally a bunch of mild rampers

Thats a lot of rain in yorkshire. Flooding could be more of an issue than wind in parts judging on sunday

70mph gust just recorded at LBA.

Probably could have done with an amber warning.

Strong winds will develop through the morning across parts of Northern Ireland and southwest Scotland, transferring across parts of northern England during the day Gusts of 50 to 60 mph are likely, possibly 70-75 mph in a few exposed sites.

Perhaps a bit stronger than expected.

A bit gusty here now but no worse than the wind earlier this week I would say.

See what the next few hours brings.

Hope we do see some snow tomorrow ❄️

Just back from a short walk and the gales were howling and buffeting me out of stride.
Can't see any damage in my village so far.  Fingers crossed we escape that.

This is not far off Arwen level here. Expecting some trees down if this carries on.

Wind has really picked up now, but no worse than previous gales, probably 50mph gusts. Went out on my bike at lunchtime and actually had a pleasant ride, wind was 15mph max, after 4 days of miserable strong winds, and just made it back before the rain.

Already damaged fence panel is one step nearer stove kindling, but apart from that no problems locally. I think storm Arwen sorted out all the weaknesses locally as that was far worse.

It's been quite viscious here this afternoon. Enough to take a neighbour's flat roof straight off in a gust.

Quite astounding how it came very suddenly from a gentle breeze to strong gales very quickly.
