At this rate, there's a chance that the region could indeed get a second shot at a snow event on Saturday and/or Sunday.  No guarantees of course, but with today's southward correction of Thursday's systems has come another northerly blast on Friday, keeping the cold air in place for when the next set of systems attack from the south-west.  The ECM in particular shows quite high confidence in much milder air coming in by Sunday, but as the GFS 18Z shows, it wouldn't take much of a shift to change it into another northern flank snow event followed by another northerly early next week, putting the return of mild air off until the middle of next week.

Very hard to call, local Met Office forecast is showing 2/3.c and snow, which isn't great at 200m.

Low lying areas in Leeds is forecast for snow, sleet, and rain.

Atleast if it does go a bit firther south we miss out on that slushfest should it go further north which looked a big probability last night. I think were in for a direct hit mate and LBA prime location!

I'm in Manchester atm don't think I'll be able to get to LBA this time.

So Last post tonight.. alarm set for 5am .. pfftt

GFS plonks this rugby ball on us at T132... and all just for fun of course, who would hazard a guess that this would have southerly corrections.. would be amazing if that verified further south 😁

The South bias in the mod thread is simply unbearable. What a joke.

Also, the one or two who always promise cold Narnia without showing proof of charts, info ect. They never get blocked like I have for exposing them........

That thread is all about, what you want to hear

Well it’s time to take the dog for a quick walk, shower then bed ready for work int morning lol. I reckon the models don’t actually have a clue and it’s all going to be down to radar watching to see where the low actually is. I really do hope we are the sweet spot but who knows. Night all and let’s hope we all wake up to a good 0z 😄🤞🏻👌🏻

-3.8c on my station (in town in Malton). I reckon we’ll see one or two of the rural frost hollows across the region get down into negative double digits by dawn.

Just been down to the end of the garden to check temp…-5c current recording.

HOWEVER, I’ve just seen a UFO!! Disregard the green/blue reflection of the moon on the camera lens….watch the small orange object. It looked like a flame, like one of those lit lanterns but it moved much faster than a lantern would be ‘floating’. Any ideas? Could it be a meterorite??

It was me mate. I'm trying to change the trajectory of Thursday's low. I need it 123 miles North.

Yep the Met Office automated whilst eventually showing heavy snow tomorrow evening shows lots of light snow at first at 2/3c.  If we only get light snow during the day it isn't going to be enough to bring the temp down in the March daylight .

Less of a risk of the system heading too far South this morning but doesn't seem the beast it was once looking like (at least Thursday day), hoping for upgrades to precip intensity today.

GFS probably the pick of the bunch this morning at 20cm and and NMM at 15cm with snow piling up during Thursday. UKMO more Thursday night and high ground really crucial.

More model consensus to bring today's system north enough to affect southern parts of the region. MetO apps show snow in Grenoside during the evening at 0C, turning lighter overnight.

Thursday's potential looks more biased towards the afternoon and overnight through into Friday morning with the initial band looking a bit more fragmented during the day. Still could be very fruitful and if the heavier precip falls overnight, all the better for it as more will lay under the night sky and indeed the quieter roads.

Fascinating, but still rather nerve-wracking!
