Sods law but the red area which probably supports snow has zero intensity almost like a rain shadow effect of the Pennines

The blue area is showing signs of intensifying, which could support snow soon, not sure how much west to east movement there is left in this thou

Starting to stick better now, but not on road surfaces yet, need a bit more intensity and it should do. Borderline still..

Nice bit building over Preston.. lets hope it finds its way here

Rain is ever so slightly sleety here. It has large coagulated drops which is suggestive of snow melting not that much higher up. 3.5°C, DP 2.9°C.

46.3 mm rain picked up gauge 9am this morning.  Had started snowing 5 mins before -- so that total inclides 0.2mm melted snow  collected from funnel and then melted indoors.     Light snow since then.  About half inch cover.

But ground is one big warm ooze.    Temps will have to drop a lot for snow to lie.   Currently 2,0C.

E breeze.   Pressure rising quickly.

Temp 4C/dp 4C.. moderate rain. feels cold and nasty. This is typical winter here in these situations, not very nice though.

Snow's coming down here in Walton le Dale, Preston now

Temps dropped to 1ºC but everywhere is sodden, so doubt it'll stick unfortunately

I'm not surprised with the amount of rain. Completely sodden here in S Cheshire and still raining, but no sign of anything more.

Some heavy snowfalls on high ground around Penrith with snowline at 150meters, above 200 meters 10cms is lying while on Shap summit its closer to 20cms. Numerous accidents on snow covered roads with the A6 closed at Shap and A66 closed at Troutbeck due to snow.

Moderate snow here (135 meters) but with the temperature stuck at 0.9c its just leaving slush on the grass

So close yet so far.

I got quite excited this morning when the rain turned sleety and there was a met office upgrade west. But I only had about 20 mins snow, followed by light sleety mess. Miserable day.

Looking at the radar, there seems to be heavier precipitation encroaching from the east of the Pennines and also West of me in s pincer movement.

50% rain 50% sleet, can only tell its sleet by looking at the skylight window otherwise looks like plain rain.

Heavy sleet now with definite partially melted snowflakes in it. Heavy precip is making the difference. temp dropping, 3.3°C.

Not even 1% sleet here!

To be fair it looks like for most of the region so far, it's more wet than white, unlike those in Yorkshire, stunning scenes over there.
