Looks a bit more meaty

Scottish mountains will probably gobble it up. Or will fizzle by the time it reaches us.

When just checking the radar I was not expecting all that PPN to the north in Scotland, looks interesting to me and has some purpose as its moving, might be interesting in the morning

looks to me like it just completely fizzles out to nothing. Never reachers here, I think our next best chance is Sunday when we get a more of an east wind.

Important to watch out for local disturbances (squiggly isobars) in these Northerly flows. Shame most are in Irish Sea as of now

Been out and about this morning. Snow is localised to area’s with a bit of height. Nothing in the Team Valley but here at the top of Gateshead we have about an inch. Very cold this morning so can’t see it melting much.

Well the ice hasn't shifted all day here. Lethal out there. When do we reckon our best chance for snow will be?

Looks like a pretty boring spell of cold weather on the horizon can’t see where the snow opportunities are going to come from for our region.

We're in a good place regrding cold, its always hard to predict precipitation but anything can pop up from the North Sea and surprise us.

As always the mod thread is all about the South and they forget about charts further north,

Still confident we will see some snow in our location before the cold spell is out. 🤞

It's looking very cold and very dry for the foreseeable and beyond but whilst we have the very cold then anything is possible with, I am sure, the odd surprise snowfall springing up at the last minute.

Yes, last night proved (although the warm sector spoiled it for some) we can get a bit shower activity going as soon as the wind direction veers to come off the sea.

I had some errands to run today, and was glad of the winter tyres on my mountain bike (tungsten carbide studs). They're damn slow and heavy, but pretty much a Get Out of Jail Free card from the fracture clinic. The back lanes were like glass out of the sun.

Maybe they could be a little window of opportunity PM tomorrow for a bit of snizzle but that window is very small and very frozen.

Still think we shouldn't give it up yet, the cold is here to stay for a long time and I am convinced some disturbances will pop up through the next week.

Just checked the radar has the wind changed to more of a northerly or nor easter? Good news if it has better for us.

Actually flicking the radar back and forth there seems to be a rotation around the showers just off the coast of Aberdeen. Maybe a small low dropping down?

Tantalisingly close now but I just don't think they have our name on them. Hope I'm wrong though. Literally only about 80 miles off shore do you think?

Sorry for late reply as looked a bust most of the night as the low pressure up in Scotland has barely moved all night so we've been in localised Westerly flow for our region
