Sleet shower here just now. Shows the air is getting colder.

Things looking much better this morning, as things stand if we do not get a dumping in the next 2 weeks I will be amazed.

I agree.  Could we be on the cusp of something quite rare these days? Only time will tell!

According to the xcweather forecast, which I think is GFS based, we're going to get 30cm on Thursday, and another 20cm on Friday. Yeah, right - I'll believe that when I see it. Looking chilly though, for sure.

The short term forecast has backed away from the big snow forecast for Thursday / Friday this week.

At best we might get a dusting in middle of night. But you never know for sure….

If this easterly was cold enough the snow would be piling up, shows the potential if we do get another one later this month

Let's keep our fingers crossed, I am sure we will see some snow before the week is out, I think it will be a lot of nowcasting but confident it will happen. Nice way to start the run to Christmas.

How much snow we likely to get in co. Durham area then?

Part of me is expecting plenty, but that could be from reading too much of the over excitement on the model thread.

Another part of me, feels we may be disappointed. Weather apps for my location aren’t showing much.

I think my location (Crook/Bishop) is best off a NE’ly.  It has to be just the right angle to get the that location otherwise it just ends up coming across newcastle and kisses completely.

That makes sense. Here where I am, it’s often just sleet / rain as I’m so close to the coast. On a train back into Newcastle on Thursday lunch time from Glasgow, so will be interesting to see if there’s any by then.

I'm not expecting too much here tbh. If the low comes in from the Atlantic bringing in easterly winds as it pulls away then we would have to wait for any cloud associated with the system to clear away before any convection can get going. Ideally we'd want any lows to disrupt and head se into Europe without affecting the UK too much
