IT’S SNOWING IN MIDDLESBROUGH!

Snowed right on the coast too so it bodes well that it is snowing at sea level too.

Nothing here in darlo yet probably a bit to far inland. Hopefully later we can join in. Has it settled in boro? I'm driving to work later in Stockton you see.

It hasn’t really settled as it has been patchy in nature but you have got the odd bit of ground covered in snow so it should settle should we get a more prolonged period of snow.

Radar looking promising, will need it to stay persistent for snow on the coast I think as 850’s and dew points rising slightly now

Rain here in Whitley bay when we had snow earlier , temps must have lifted with wind off warm sea ?

Same here.  Just starting.  Difficult to say how long it will last of how heavy it will be as its shifting formation on the approach.  Moderate now.  Intensity 4/10

I think as the more heavier stuff moves in it will be snow.

Hoping for a decent hour or so of it. 🤞

Nope still rain here, another poor start to a potential cold spell tbh

We in a milder sector were the due points are higher they should start to drop again later

Always difficult for us on the coast early in the season with the North Sea being relatively mild

The flurries have reached Durham. It's settling no problem as this morning's frost still hasn't lifted. Just rode to Durham and back on my bike and can confirm it's this: Bloody Freezing 😀.

I follow Neil Bradshaw's site at South Shields in these situations and while the surface wind has switched from a westerly to a north-westerly it is still blowing from the land, so it seems unlikely to be the warming effects of the sea at the coast.  There is a pool of warmer air (just creeping above -5C at the 850hPa level) moving over the region, so it's more likely to be a lack of elevation issue near the coast.

You know that intense yellow sky, that is how it is here right now after 30 minutes of sleet. I think we may get a downpour soon and hopefully all white!!
