25.3 here at the moment, a blessed relief from yesterday. We are about 12 miles from the coast and woke up to think mist and sea fog(not something I remember in August in previous years). We could do with some rain but at the present I do not see much coming.

Aye I can never remember sea mist in August. Went to south Shields 4pm on Sunday and was greeted with thick mist/fog. Yet only a mile inland was bright warm sunshine.

All the storms yesterday seemed to miss my location and we stayed relatively bone dry

Yeah, a drizzly breakdown here too - not enough to settle the dust, as my Mum would have said.

Edit: Ha! No sooner did I hit send, it started to pour down.

Another breakdown plays out with little to no rain here.  The misty dampness and drought stress has caused an outbreak of brown patch disease on my lawn!

We had a couple of hours of steady rain around 11am and then dull but dry,I am not complaining we needed it,like Chris says it’s more like winter temperatures tonight.

The line of hefty downpours missed me by a whisker, but still got 16mm from 2 hours of moderately heavy rain.

Any thoughts on the upcoming winter anyone ?

The trees here are absolutely stashed with berries, my old grandma would always tell me prepare for a long hard winter

Old wives tale or not ?

Old wives tale I regret to say, as to the algorithms I believe they are predicting a front loaded winter we shall as ever get any more definite news on this wonderful site.

I have not seen a ground frost so far this autumn, I would hazard a guess that 7 c has been the lowest so far and too make matters worse it seems to me that it will be well into November that I experience an air frost.

I keep hoping for a radical change in the Synoptics but there are no definite signs at the moment.

So how do people think the NE will do in the next 10 days or so? Any chance of a few surprises over the weekend?

I'm really optimistic.  Northerly or easterly we can do really well on the coast and these showers can be driven far inland.  👌 Best chance by far for a long time!

Normally with this weather pattern we would be expecting a good covering of the white stuff but with sea temperatures being what they are there is a possibility initially snow could be reserved for high ground.

I would expect some really heavy North sea showers from the predicted set-up next week at the best of times, but even more so due to sea surface temperatures being well above normal, creating increased instability.with hail and thunder quite likely amogst the snow showers.

Looks like quite a lengthy cold spell coming up as it stands.

One thing is certain Cloud, your area should get a good dumping, I may not be so fortunate.

Tonight's ECM mostly removes the convective flow from the north sea,so still cold but no dumping!

Back on track guys and girls! I genuinely thought we would mind that ECM run just didn't look right.
