How's the snow up in Consett, was thinking of taking the kids up there for a sledge tomorrow?

Slowly creeping up through double digits with 11th day here but the late afternoon rain washed so much away, now an ice rink out there as the ground has been so cold since Monday with lying snow sticking around & icing up prior to the showers

Surprise overnight snowfall (12th day) which fell onto iced surfaces, made for an interesting 5am drive to work20220107_054313.thumb.jpg.d1cdd36c076afe41045292405b8b1b78.jpg

Aye it was lethal here in Chester le street yesterday morning. Black ice everywhere and car was frozen solid. Milder weather moving in today. Although I should add not overly mild. Probably around average

Quite pleasant out there earlier. 8c when got home from work at half 2 with nice sunny skies. Cloud amounts could vary a little this week.

Rather nice out there today. 9c. Sunny skies. Barely any wind. Rather pleasant. If we can't have snow then I'd happily take this weather any day of the week.

Another lovely day here again after another very slight frost last night. Loving this sun.

Some unexpected rain this morning but looks like the blue sky is coming over now. A little breezy but temps slightly higher than yesterday

Clear blue skies again this morning. Although that wind is rather nippy. More of the same over the next couple of days with some frosts

We're under a yellow warning here in North Yorkshire with 110km/h gusts. Right now we have also a proper storm with rain. I don't really know how they issue these warnings but it's unacceptable to have North Yorkshire under a yellow warning under these conditions. It's Saturday and many young children have outdoor sports activities and it's really dangerous out there now.

Did the amber warning ever make it this far south even? I thought it only came as far as mid-Northumberland.

Some damage in the village - flattened fences mostly, but the road into the village was blocked for a while by a fallen tree. Bit of a shock to the system after weeks of relative calm.

Fence down, some chimneys too, shocked it wasn't red warning. Power off again. At this rate we'll have more days of power off than snow days.

Currently 4 vs 11 for my area

Yep just had weather alert for Storm Corrie, typical you wait all day for a bush and tree come along at once. Taxi

Sleet, almost snow in darlo wasn't expecting this. Probably because I've been so bored of the weather I haven't logged in in ages

Do we all think this region can get some luck for once with the track of this low bringing snow for many? Or will it be to far north and we get a windy washout.

The worst of the wind for the region looks to start about 5pm today and continuing into the early hours, with more power cuts probable, made worse by previous storms weakening the infrastructure.

As for Friday's storm, looks like high ground especially is in for its first real dumping of snow of the winter as the center of the LP tracks directly over us,but i'm hoping we will miss the strongest of the winds.
