Having been old enough to remember clearly the incredible winter of 62-63 I have to say the charts are starting to look incredibly similar. My only concern is in a warming world will it affect our snow chances as the majority of our snow falls at marginal temperatures.

It was snowmagedon yesterday in the mod thread, now it’s bbq Weather what’s all gone wrong it seems it’s the same every year!

A white Xmas would have been nice.

It is still all up in the air, my amateur take on it is that elevated ground in our area will see their white Christmas , lower ground more dubious but we are in the game. Just hope I have not put the hex on it.

There is still a chance of a white Xmas for some in the North East, would definitely agree high ground being favourite for obvious reasons, however if the winds stay light lower ground might have a chance, hoping the boundary between the colder/milder air is further south and we might get snow on the back edge or from possible snow showers following from the North East -  this is what I'm hoping for - what actually happens is very much up for grabs,  here's hoping the ECM, UKMO follow this mornings GFS

Had to drive over Chapel Fell today. Still plenty of Arwen snow in the gullies across the tops. It was +2.5c when I left home in the Browney valley, a bracing -1.5c amongst the snow poles on the tops. It's a wild place up there. I'm betting I wouldn't get my van up there this time next week :).

The models for Xmas day, to my eyes appear to be showing the cold digging in from the NE,  wouldn't be surprized to see a few flakes coming down at some stage in the day at lower levels especially later in the day - here's hoping Happy Xmas all

GEFS all in agreement of direction of travel temp wise, worrying is the lack of snow spikes. Just after midnight on 25th having best chances & flurries at best. Still time for change though & Met faxes had fronts further North so not a done deal yet

it certainly is a rollercoaster watching the models flipping/flopping at the moment, is the cold going to triumph for Xmas or not?

time will tell happy Xmas

its pretty cold out there as I write this, had some cold rain here this afternoon

It's quite hard to judge how good the models actually are in the southern thread. Although it doesn't look like any model has covered itself in glory over the past week or so.

Has been rather cold here all day too with some cold rain moving through earlier

Just 5hrs too late & even Newcastle Airport had sleet when I just drove past. Another close call, about 3 recently where a matter of hours has mattered

Quite a few airports showed sleet above before midnight. Though was nice driving home after knackering night shift to confirmed 8th day of snow

Good to see the usual places got snow again, only a few hours off a white Xmas.
low lying areas still on the hunt for some, it could be a frustrating wait.

Normally, I don't mind a bit of cold weather, but I gotta say, it's bloody gorgeous out there today. Just back from a two hour walk. IN SHORTS! I don't have a weather station, but it must be at least 15c.

very mild today, I have just bought a weather station - getting delivered tomorrow, hopefully might see some cold temps on it next week, unless the models let us coldies down again
