Maybe we might get a little bit of a white surprise in the next 24/36 hours.

Only early days for winter though so nice to have a little bit of interest this early - not looking forward to these winds tonight / tomorrow though !!!

Well,  something is whipping past in the light of the street lights, but it's flying by way too fast to see what it is! Some big gusts arriving now.

I'm usually too busy drinking warm shandy down here in Essex to offer anything of assistance in this thread, but I just wanted to say good luck to all in the North East tonight.

Freezing out there already and wind is getting going, Sky does look white but can only see rain at low levels on this one.

Hi all, just popping in from the southeast thread, hoping you'll all be ok and safe

Heavy wet snow here.  Don't know temp as the outdoor sensor battery is out.

If this stayed as snow it would be an epic blizzard....however I expect it to warm up when the wind come in off the sea.  Question is will the colder uppers due later be enough for snow down the east coast???

Snow in whitley bay. Very wet though.

Snow is getting heavier and beginning to cover surfaces....260ft.asl 7 miles from coast.

 

Still think it will warm up as the sea is relatively worm and the strong winds will be modified

Either we just had a crack of thunder, or that was someone's wheelie bin going past, headed for Durham. This kind of weather always seems to happen on bin day!

I just said the same thing to my daughter. It sounded very much like a roll of thunder. I'm in DL5.

Saw a couple of bright flashes of lightning about an hour ago with loud thunder.

 

A full covering of snow here now with blizzard conditions.
