That time of year again where I appear! Noticed there's a meltdown as per usual on the Winter thread from the southerners 🤣🤣

We might get a bit lucky over the next week or so up here I reckon

Every year it's the same. It's quite funny 🤣 isn't it?!?

Actually I think your location may do better than the rest of the North East this time, but only time will tell

Definitely think there could be a few surprises this week. Great to be in with a shout so early in the season. Welcome back everyone

Speaking of winter in general, a combo of some decently cold air from Scandanavia and this year's high SSTs in the North Sea could deliver some proper snow dumps. Just have to get everything aligned - which I presume is what happened in 2010.

Nice looking band working down from the NE.

Now then, wonder where that snow shield positions itself this season.

Seriously do think we will see some snow over the next 24 hours.

You can guarantee the shield will be back to frustrate this winter.

Good to see this thread alive with prospect of snow in the NE.

In north easterly and northerly airstreams I often dip into this thread rather than North west. Sometimes we are on the receiving end, but normally only far east Cumbria and NE Pennine regions.

Wouldn’t rule out a dusting at least away from immediate coasts tonight

Looks like we might me be in with a chance of a couple cms this week.

Its going to be locations close enough to the coast to catch the showers but far enough away/high enough for it to lie. Stanley will probably get something. I’m hoping my location gets lucky.

Glad the regional thread is alive again, can’t fully grasp the model thread. Excited to lamppost watch after the match.

A short very light snow flurry just passed through here right on the coast. Radar showing shower activity increasing ..

Coming down lightly in Boldon, but streets are slightly white and kids (and me) are over the moon to see it 🙂

Now where have I seen this before

The stupid wind direction that this region always gets means as soon as it heads here it goes back out to sea…

Not going to be a issue for much longer , wind north easterly next few days

Tyne and Wear hitting the sweet spot right now. Expect many near the coast may have a light cover early hours.

Yes wind starting to turn more to the north as the low pulls away. Got my eye on that clump just up the coast

Not sure I get these met office warnings.
To me it’s the opposite of what they’ve put and the coastal regions getting all the showers.

The wind is still slightly north west so showers will clip coastal areas but probably not settle. Wind direction starts to change from now so showers will get further inland
