Cloud breaking a bit now. Been a decent snow event this close to 10cm which surely warranted a yellow warning from the met office. Imagine if this was London. Prob have been a red.

Strangely, they removed most of the North-West from the warning area earlier. I'd be surprised if they don't re-issue an ice warning...

Now for the freeze over. Hopefully skies clear sharpish.

First winter in Cheshire and it produces this beauty. My expectations are low given we are at sea level virtually but today has proven given the right conditions we can have settling snow in daylight hours in November!

Welcome to South Cheshire. We live in Wistaston and we have seen more snow over the last few years than I expected when we moved from the cold North East. CreweCold might disagree

Going to be a v cold night across the region It had stopped snowing but it’s just started again probably the last hurrah as the band sinks south. What a great start to the season! Even better locally than Nov 2010 ❄️

It is strange that the Met O aren’t expecting ice to be an issue across the northwest after today’s snow when other parts of the country warrant a warning.

even my driveway needs a warning

and after a dry hour, light snow has started again.

Quite. No way I expected an inch of snow to fall today.

Dark in the next half an hour so hopefully we get a quick clearance and a rapid temperature drop.

On top of Grinshill, 190m above sea level 8 miles N of Shrewsbury. All rain here and green as far as can see (the Wrekin doesn't seem to have any snow)

Absolutely weird. I think it must be about timing. It started early enough here to drag the freezing level down and you then get a feedback from there. Any later starting and it would probably have been rain here too.

As it is, I'm made up, went for a quick walk and had an inch of fresh snow crunching under my feet. It's what winter is all about!

Why would you want to balance on your washing line.

That would make sense if it had rained in the E and S Midlands where it started around the same time as here, but it snowed there too! It's very weird. In the way down it did briefly turn wintry but was back to rain when I was back in the car park at 150m (if it had stayed as snow the timing theory would also make sense with it getting dark)

As @northwestsnow said not a bad event.
Had to remind myself this is not February but November.
Glad to see many get a good covering.
Quite picturesque now
