After a lovely frosty start, things have now turned damp and murky with drizzle and temp now on the rise. Snow cover now disappearing slowly. However, it's been a memorable weekend for weather enthusiasts.

Agreed. Noticed the fine drizzle as I ventured out for the first time since 7.30am. I'm hoping it won't freeze overnight, sorry folks, but it will be a nightmare tomorrow morning if it does!

The roads were treacherous this morning, but pavements weren't too bad, as it often the case the first morning after and there was still a nice crunch to the snow but then of course the snow gets repeatedly compacted on the pavements and becomes like an ice rink after repeated freeze thaw cycles.

Temp was up and down like a yo yo last night because of the fog/low cloud coming and going but managed -7.5C just before dawn which wasn't as low as I wanted. But still impressive for November. Slow thaw is now taking place as the temp has now nudged above freezing as has the dew point.

Nothing short of an upgrade at +66 and +87 - even the Wirral looks favourable ppn down to Sea Level.

A decent thaw this afternoon which has done more in clearing the ice off the drive than my attempts over the weekend managed.

and without the need to open my precious last bag of grit.

Yes the milder air making in roads here in the east of the region. 2.2C now and all I hear is drip drip with the snow getting thinner on the ground, helped a long by the drizzly rain too making it slushy out there. Probably be all gone by midnight or soon after with the projected mild temps. Thoroughly enjoyed the last 48 hours though it's been very decent and a nice early start to winter.

Seem the Mod thread is riding the crest of the rollercoaster.

This morning it was the bottom of the dip.

I cant keep up with it.

fingers crossed.. as long as that wind doesn't have a sea fetch we should be in for something. the wind looks NWly for here however.. so about 50/50 chance. Quite an impressive northerly stretch on those isobars though!

4c drip    … still cover on roof, grass, drive etc but slushfest…

In a way it's a good job it's not freezing over tonight or it would be absolutely lethal sheet ice to walk or drive on. Glad we've had snow though. It does seem wrong to have mild temps and rain with these short days. We're a long way north and it should be freezing at this time of year anyway. We're closer to the north pole than we are to the equator.
