Well it's looking increasingly likely that the Spanish all time record could be under threat on either Friday or Saturday. The record is 46.9C set in Cordoba in July 2017.

Almost off the scale.

Upper air temps reaching 32C.

Oooooof! You know it's gonna be hot when you see the pink colours turning up!  Thankfully the pink stays well away from the UK and so does the red most of the time, esspecially in the north, most of the time we are bathed in orange, yellow or green (or the "green snot" as some on here like to call it.)

Snap.     73.7 mm for Aug so far at Met Office rain observers sta here in SW corner of  Bowland     Felt cold last 2 or 3 days.  But nice to see some spells of good warm sunshine today. Max got to 19.1C.

Yeah same here max of 19.3, min of 13.3, daily mean 16.3 so bang on average for here. Mostly Sunny and breezy, very pleasant day.  ?️ If we just had average temps, little rain and lots of sun I'd never complain (although that would eventually get a bit boring).

Interesting to see if the record can be broken… 47/48c? Those uppers are a bit phew

I reckon sometime in the next 10 years 50C will be recorded there because of climate change.

Well, other than a bit of damp drizzly stuff the heaviest of the rain has kept away from here today although it was worryingly close at one stage.

still time for something heavier but I think the gardens have had enough of a drink over the last week or so to manage without another deluge.

A bit of drizzly rain here is all we've had. Not unusual though in a SSW flow most of the precipitation makes a bee line to north lancs and Cumbria in these scenarios.

17c heavy drizzle… now blue skies showing amongst clouds… lookslike heavier precipitation developing on radar out west… will it fizzle too? Probably… Off to Etihad tomorrow morning to sort mobile season ticket… then Wing Yip to stock up on some Asian essentials… then if dry afternoon sand and paint remaining bench…

Yes the squall has arrived, unexpectedly I might add. Looks mostly dry though after tonight for a few days so whilst it won't be proper warmth it will be useable weather non the less. Not been a terrible summer really. Seems like we've done better than down south for a change.

Making paella for ten friends on fire pit Friday afternoon… hoping it’s decent weather… hoping 18-22c off various forecasts and a bit of sunshine ☀️ come to fruition…

Heavier rain just started

No proper warmth/heat on the way but not overly unsettled either apart from an odd shower. I think this summer in our region will go down as respectable and could have been far worse, yes we've had hotter sunnier ones but this is the UK not the Med, I don't see any mango trees growing just yet with climate change haha.

Quite a successful day in warmish (18-21c according to car) sunshine with bit of a breeze…

queued to sort out mobile season ticket issues ✅ popped to Wing Yip nearby to pick up a few bits ✅ Set up fire pit for paella tomorrow ✅ benches sanded and painted ✅ grass cut ✅ inventory and photos for new tenants at our house that’s been totally refurbished ✅

It turned out to be quite a good day with temps up to 19'c after this morning's unexpected cloud-cover, I was out early-doors for a hike to the summit of Shutlingsloe expecting to be greeted with blue skies and a colorful sunrise (so the forecast said) but after driving over the Cat & Fiddle down to Wildboarclough I was soon greeted by low-cloud and fog limiting the visibility. I did the hike anyway but didn't bother with photo's as there was nothing to be seen more than 10 meters ahead

Met Office forecast issued at 5am

"A mostly dry start but frequent, locally heavy showers developing across the region as the day progresses. A cloudy day for many but chance of sunny spells."

BBC forecast

"Today, it is expected to be a largely dry with plenty of sunshine and patchy cloud moving in from the west. The chance of the odd shower cannot be ruled out, however. A fresh south-westerly breeze."

There maybe showers but it doesn't look a "frequent showers" day today to me.

We'll see come day's end but the wording and quality of Met Office text forecasts has gone to the dogs recently

"wintry rain"

"widespread patchy showers"

"isolated gales"

"maybe wintry showers clearing south"...... when there was a belt of snow.

Looking at the radar, there was more chance of winning the postcode lottery than getting a post code shower today but my post code has just managed one.

fortunately it didn’t last long and the sun is out again now.

Poor Met Office text forecast or maybe it was the wording was poor.

Morning all.

A decent useful one at that.

I wonder if @WillinGlossop has saved some paella?

Just been around Glossop looking for size 5 wellies.  They are extinct. Had to order off Amazon. So much for supporting your local area.

Early Arctic air into Scandi on the GFS with some snow possible on the higher ground near Tromsø. Obviously too early for anything widespread over there but if they can get some good snow cover in October then who knows this could benefit us down the line.

Sometimes trying to buy locally can be quite hard for certain items… you’d of thought boots would be something you’d be able to pick up?
