Snowing again here in Prague and blowing a hoolie. Temperature is just above freezing with the snow forecast to turn to rain later. Milder tomorrow but then cold for the weekend with further snow and looking very chilly next week with ice days possible and more snow. Quite early this year.

Not been on here for ages as I don’t usually post at this time of year but I had to share pics of Sunday’s snow. The forecast was for a dry sunny day but to my surprise it snowEd all morning leaving quite a deep covering.

The forecast was for a dry sunny day but to my surprise it snows all morning.

Saturday night was wild with strong winds but also unusually cold for a wind storm as it was coming from the north with pieces of snow battering against the window.

Today a very different day, overcast with light drizzle and much milder, currently 8.4°C with westerly breeze, more of a typical winter day. It’s 4:30 pm and it’s already pitch dark, ugh. Really want to go back to the lighter evenings now.

This is the time of year when one can get FOMO living in the far South East! With the exception of those 1 in 5 year NE'ly snow streamers, Winters down here aren't really that interesting compared to further North and/or West.

Maybe I could get a job and some sort of house swap where I can live up North in Winter, and in Kent in Summer. However I cannot see someone wanting to do that the other way round! (make your Winters even milder and Summers even cooler / less stormy? No thanks, our climate is bland enough as it is!)

Got to say though, despite little going on here, it's good to see nice photos and reports in the UK. It is better than the whole country missing out after all

Based on all the current evidence I strongly suspect that the gig may well be up for this round of cold chasing, ah well there's always next time.

The cold chase is a permanent thing never goes away.. ebbs and flows somewhat.. desperation usually sets in by mid Feb if we've had no cold still.

You’d be surprised. A lot of people don’t like cold or heat. It would be similar to living in SW England.

Blowing an absolute hoolie out there now. Currently 8°C. I don’t think it was forecast to be particularly windy tonight.

So that's it then.. another season done and dusted.

Whilst the beginning of autumn saw the hot spell and the end seeing Storm Arwen and the cold spell, overall it hasn't been the most interesting of autumns.

In terms of rainfall there has been the odd wet period here and there during late Sept and early Oct, but with all the rain coming at once as opposed to being more scattered. So despite many dry days, precipitation was fairly close to average for the first two months. November was dry though apart from the odd drizzly day.

If you see any cold in fi ,then it's in fi and too far away to take notice of.

If they see the Atlantic rev up in mid Dec on the models it's a given?

Afternoon everyone.

Haven't been on here for a while... Real life and all that... But I have been outside for a lot of that time and enjoying the season that was autumn 2021.
T'was a bit of a funny ole autumn... Weather wise I couldn't complain, just a bit colourless... Until about the middle of November when all of a sudden there was an explosion of the autumn colours... And then it was all over.

There are still some of the oak trees with leaves on, but they are looking rather tattered and torn after Storm Arwen.

Ahh well... Until next year when I start looking for 'signs of autumn' again... Farewell autumn... It was emotional.

Given the strength of the PV a part of my mind always thought that a possibility cold and blocked outlook was  too good to be true so not at all surprised by the model's backtracking.
