Woodburner has been lit for the last 4 evenings .     Got a half load of logs in this afternoon to go with what I already had got up together myself.

Got about 1.7  cubic metres now, should keep us going until just after Christmas. Might be able to top it up with a  few fallen ash limbs from the side of the road , and  left overs from Ash die back cutting .

Heating went on for the first time this season today. Hoped to wait for later in the year but the flat felt so chilly today

Ours went on for a bit today.  I don’t feel so bad using it more willingly in this new house, all well insulated and energy efficient, so will be interesting to see how it compares in cost to our last place (300 year old drafty place with log burners and a 20 year old oil fired boiler)

I do miss chopping logs though..

Anyway, my heating was on this morning 🥶 but for the foreseeable future it will be staying on the off* mode….for now as it won’t be needed methinks 🫡

Mine has never been off.... the off setting on the thermostat resets itself so all I do is just turn down the boiler's water temp for the radiators over Summer. I've recently turned it back to 62ºC.

Heating is on now. Since an accident last week where I broke bones I can't move about much. Interesting how quickly my cold tolerance disappears when I'm not exercising/losing fitness.

I turned it on a week ago but only on the cold nights/mornings so intermittently….I’ll most likely put it on auto by the end of October so it comes on for 2 hours in the morning and 5 hours in the evening and with any luck can take it off auto by April

Woodburner lit in the evenings currently, we always start by burning the tatty 'small' wood at this time of year and save the proper logs for when we need a 24hr a day burn. Wood sheds have enough seasoned wood stacked to last the winter, and the good thing, it's only cost me sweat and effort and a bit of electric to gather it cut it and split it. Apart from cost the other advantage is that if we are cold we don't feel guilty about having a hotter fire.

Same here, I'm currently just burning odds, and ends. I reckon I've  gathered enough to keep us going until after Christmas. If we get a few dry days, I'll probably get out and about in the van  and see what's about.   A full load on top  will probably see us through.  Got some Hawthorn that I'm keeping back for when it gets colder.
