Snow risk still seems to be midlands north for me based on recent output and even that is on a knife edge. Recent BBC and Met forecasts have also reduced the cold risk across the board before Boxing Day.

A snippet from your signature Blast:

Added autumn 2018.  Major winter to match one of the greats in 20th century during next 3 years.

Could this be the one

Only if what we see verifies.  If charts are still showing this come Wednesday, then we have it.  Nervy few days ahead.

this 06z has heightened my anxiety.  This is turning into perfection.  Atlantic halted and the Scandi trough likely to swing south,  more prolonged cold, more snow.  Without a SSW and a La Niña.

Absolutely stunning 06z. Possible Nor’easter style low waiting to happen into FI from Iberia, and a true proper Greeny high! Doesn't get much better! Loads of little disturbances cropping up once the pattern is locked in. This is the stellar run.

The 06z is too good, I would rather a solid gradual build to improvement.  However, now it shows perfection I want to to see consolidation with consistency ….day after day until is ‘reliable’.  Not too much to ask is it ?….and it will do SAGE’s job for them by keeping folk at home

Way out in LaLa Land, I know, but bordering on perfection: -9-10C 850s, low SLP and low heights? What more can one ask for?

Oh, I nearly forgot: warm North Sea!

12 out of 17 MOGREPS have flipped to cold for Christmas...

That news along with the ecm suite is the best news of the morning. Lets hope things become a little less stressful and see if the models can can build on it from now on.
