Some more stuff around here as well as pink rain curtains.

Four cracks of Thunder and some nice flashes of lightning as the showery stuff pulled away.

Strong sunshine in the western sky at the time.

Crazy days weather!

Got little rain here earlier. Not nearly enough to do any significant good and missed out on any thunder. However nice skyscapes of Ac cas and a pleasant breeze now the oppressive heat has gone.

As you say Harry the oppressive heat has gone and the unrelenting hot air streams. Remains breezy, but not unpleasantly warm. Awaiting a line of showers possibly thundery making their way erratically towards the east Kent coast where I reside

Now down to 29 but I somehow feel more uncomfortable. It's muggier now.

A brief period of welcome heavy rain here, but still feeling muggy.

Strong smell of smoke hanging in the air from a large ongoing field fire a couple of miles away.

Just finished pot watering, not a huge temperature drop and not a breath of wind. Can't see any significant rain here for a least another week.

Even my hemerocallis are giving up the ghost.

I'd be astonished if any of that gets anywhere east of Cambridge tbh!

Negative. 2x a couple of minutes of big drops. Not even got the ground wet. Car and garden furniture dry after a few minutes. A few flashes and rumbles. Temp stuck at 26 degrees at local WOW station.

Incoming to N Kent ...

E London just sparked off from nowhere, too.

(not quite the Medway Sausage (for those that remember it))

Console shows 40°C at 14:10, although downloaded data shows we got to 40.1°C at 16:30 with 20% humidity.  Currently 31.1°C with 39% humidity but it feels horrible, hot, thick and muggy.  Just back from walking the dog and had some heavy fat raindrops for a few minutes.  While it efficiently frizzled my hair, the pavements weren't even damp.  The wind has dropped to 7mph adding to the general feeling of  this being the worst part of the day.   Have had three power cuts this afternoon.   Field fire near Ravensden this afternoon 2022.07.19.xspf

Not sure if the video will work..... am rubbish at loading videos on here.

Please tell me that wasn't it. It's more humid than ever. Need a good shower to properly clear the air.

What a day! Historic heat. Skies been threatening a while this evening with sporadic bursts of rain, then from around 9pm IC thunder started from the south, with a CG and instant shot gun thunder around 9.15 and heavy rain for about 5 mins.

Parched garden breathed a sigh of relief

Oddly very similar to the end of the August 2003 heatwave while I was living in Essex, with elevated thunderstorms when it broke down.

Looks to have died out just before Maidstone - the other lobe continues NNE, but will miss us here in Medway. Here's hoping for a bit of North Downs orographic lift to help us out a bit! (Convective) wind has picked up a lot, though.

Just coming on to say that - temp is finally down to 21.2c but it’s now so humid it may as well be 38c again 🥵

Only got 1.6mm from the passing shower but had some decent lightning and thunder from it
