And just like that it seems hotter than modelled, shows that a combination of models and readings do make for an accurate forecast and why further readings are needed.

Yep, and our youngest member is very good at this it seems, you called it eagle eye.

It'll be twelve pm if on a met office station, it's always an hour behind. Probably for checks.

Based on these temp recordings from radar at 12:05, my weather station can't be right can it? Or is my heat muddled head missing something?

Probably a number of factors at play SH, including the time delay of the radar overlay temperature feeds from the various stations as well as the location of your station versus the nearest official station to you.

@Paul Is there some more info available about the various weather overlay feeds please, in particularly the temperature feeds?

Just about to break my own weather station record - previous was 35.6c on 31st July 2020. Currently on that now

Edit: just breached it: now 35.9c

At 33.6c it's the highest I've ever known it here on the coast.

Multiple reports of fires breaking out around Bexley, Crayford and Dartford.  Can see plumes of smoke all around.

This heat is hellish today.  Does anyone have a rough time when things will feel cooler in the SE?  And do we have any prospect of rain/thunder to help put the fires out?

Nope but it'll be no problem, it'll over fry in seconds, with a crispy frill for sure.

Hope fire brigade get controll of them. Wild fires in London, not good. There's two in Shirley Croydon too.

I think we may have peaked at 32.5C. We're a degree down on that now and the downward movement is continuing (slowly).

Dover has just reached 35 in the two o clock Langdon bay reading. Sons just got in from school, finished early today and yesterday, saying he has shaky legs. I think school should have been closed. Anyway have him resting and drinking.

Several houses destroyed near Dartford, apparently, and fire spreading.

Been sat at 37c for a couple of hours now (norwich weather station), feels much hotter than yesterday when we reached the same temp. Hope they get the fires out quickly. Really really want this to go with a bang now, was watching the storms down cornwall way this morning, they now have a pleasant 22-23c temp, lucky boogers.

Saw the smoke from the A2 as I drove past Hall Place. Just a discarded bottle can start them. Hope nobody hurt. My very unofficial recording is attached, after a drive and parked in the shade.
