Cold and frosty here today. Lovely weather but I don't see any real chance of snow now for west country. 😕

A very chilly good morning to you all from Taunton . Temperature 0.0C from a -2.5C at 7am .

Fog is very thick round here and some motorists don't have their lights on !

I'm sorting out the lounge so I can put the artificial tree up . I'm so tempted to get a real one- just a very small one .

Anyone else has their decorations up ?

How are you Becca ? Xx

GET A REAL ONE!!! i COULD never have a plastic one. I love the touch and smell of a real one!

We are going to get the tree in a minute (when i've got off NW!) and will decorate it this pm and the rest of the house tomorrow. That said ...

... Found out last night Jess has the bloody threadworms again!! So I change beds, clean bathroom, go right throughout the whole house again!!!

MIL want's to come for Christmas for 2 weeks trying to get this to less. As last time she stayed for new year too I had  a nervous breakdown and ended up shouting in her face and swearing at her. I totally lost it. The last thing to do was her cleaning a mouldy bedroom window sill with my face flannel from the bathroom!!!  Got something happening every day for the next week. Argh it's the time of year for stress levels to go sky high! Silly season! ... Bet you wish you hadn't asked now ...

That sounds very very stressful. I seem to remember another time she visited she kept on hoovering every day and generally being downright rude and causing upset .

She doesn't seem to realise that you just don't take over another person's house and also  sounds very controlling and loves causing upset .

You have us to sound off to ,it would be helpful if the weather could help in putting her off some how .

Enjoy the tree decorating .

I'm glad you replied xxx

Just to make you all jealous (including myself) here's what I just posted in the Northwest group... daughter's house at sea level in Ulverston Cumbria. Coming in off the Irish sea (well Morecambe Bay), smallish area, completely unforecast they tell me! Seemingly, they are under an orange amber warning, issued at 12:43pm after 4 hours of snowing lol.

Barely above freezing here, some frost in the garden here and there..mist has just broken for the first time today just as the sun is dropping… could it get cold enough for a little snow later? Or is the milder air going to sweep it away..  Met office were very vague about that this morning, hinting that snow was possible for south Wales and south midlands, which I guess could give some of us a chance in the north of our region. They also said temperature would get up to 3c around here mid afternoon- and it certainly hasn’t!

Briefly went up to 0.3°C when the sun came out but apart from that it’s been below freezing all day and now the fog appears to be coming back. Cure let -0.3°C

😀

Not seen it either of late from walks along Stokes Bay.

Fog and mist has cleared here now.
Oddly for the fog this morning, did not hear any fog horns, but did yesterday.

Temp just starting to rise, just gone above zero.
Sky is pure white.

Foggy all day here on the outskirts of Taunton, a low of -5.2°C has translated into a day with a high of -1.3°C. Now back down to -1.9°C. I saw the sun once, through the fog, but it has thickened up again.

Afternoon all,

Based on Wunderground, temperatures still at -1C, fog hasn’t lifted all day, though is a little lighter than earlier.

Forecast top temp during daytime hours was 4C… assuming the milder temperatures will still sweep across later as the winds move to a SE’ly direction. But it could easily mean anything is falling onto frozen surfaces!

The BBC mentioned freezing rain, and this would not be at all surprising given the temperatures have been below freezing all day. Potentiallly tricky conditions later and thoroughly unpleasant if out in it (I have the work's christmas party later so I will be one of those people!)

Sure is I took this photo earlier

I can still see spiderwebs that are frozen out there.

The other two photos are from this morning.

I also took some video footage of very fine fog flakes coming down

Still -0.8C won’t make an ice day as it warms up later 😭

I wonder if we could see a few flakes preceding the milder air?

I was wondering the same, it's a good 5oC colder than predicted and it was tight as it was so I wonder....

Back in from doing the Christmas decorations, had a break at lunch with some warm soup. Lovely day out there, had some hazy sunshine briefly but the frost has stayed all day, the fog has returned in the last hour.

Not looking forward to the rain returning later!

Not been above freezing all day here, warmest I saw was -0.8C, thick fog all day, crisp underfoot, certainly be interesting re any rain or snow we get later, temp falling away nicely now.
