What I find annoying is reports about Britain in the freezer/The great freeze of Britain etc etc in the papers I live on the Isle of Wight we’ve literally had a few cold days and a brief flurry we now have heavy rain and wind! And next week  double figure temps and more rain! They  should be more specific in the headlines that’s the north! I’m really hoping we will get a decent cold spell and some snow at some point this winter it’s been 5 years 😩 Does anyone have a long term view for this south of the country?

Much milder than the last far days. Wet for most of the day and fairly windy at times. Reached 10.6°C

One day of rain and the flooding is back - seriously we need a prolonged dry spell now...

Morning All, a gloomy one this morning, with the overnight low of 7.4°C at: 00:10, having reached a high of 9.2°C at: 06:56 has now gone the other way and is down to 8.6°C, RH95% with 22mm yesterday and another 4.8mm today.

From Above, cloud, cloud and more cloud, with a break far out to the west

On Golden sands, the lights are "On" but nobody is at home!

What an awful awful day here today.  Cold, wet and miserable.

We seem to be stuck on a pivoting area of heavy rain, stretching essentially up the M5 corridor.

That looks to be stuck like that for a few more hours yet...

You can bet the radar wouldn’t look like this if there was even the slightest chance of it being snow..!

And no doubt the flood warnings will start.......

So, 26mm of rain fell here before the warning came in to force at midnight, and only 5.6mm during the warning.

Definitely in a fortunate position so far today with that heavy rain stuck only a few miles to the West. It rained properly for about an hour after dawn but since then just drizzly.

As others have said, stuck under this pivoting band. Looking like 30mm or so, so far today, still coming down now and that’s on top of the roughly 8-10mm yesterday….

Thoroughly damp.

Well this is nice..........not!!

Agreed! Been chipping an enormous pile of hedgecuttings at work through the morning/early pm… that Met warning is spot on! Very unpleasant.  Does look worse in Somerset as others have mentioned - lived there for some years a while back, and remember driving between Glastonbury and Wells on days like this. Some sketchy moments for sure! Might be a few around Stroud district if this carries on…

Imagine if it was just below freezing today! Buried…

Temperature drop of 2c in 30 minutes at lunch today from 7.9 down to 5.9c. Now at 5.5c a cold dank day thankfully not under that constant blanket of rain further up country!

Hi AWD we are currently on 40mm of rain today (Frampton Cotterell) I’ve kept rain records since 1988 and it’s already a top 5 daily fall event ☔️
