wind is getting angrier here now, i'm still in my pajamas and should have lunch so I could go into my local fields and get the cobwebs out of my eyes

Bude is taking a battering. This is exactly why the danger to life warnings were warranted. Getting hit by some of this debris could end your life:

To those giving the whole "what a let down, it was exaggerated, what storm?" nonsense - just stop.

Yeah no doubt some of the early reports seen do justify the red, some people clearly have been luckier and you can see a clear zone where winds have thus far remained somewhat more modest, though even there we are getting 50-60mph quite widely.

Interestingly Bristol still isn't all that high considering they are in the red zone, 10.50am report was only at 47mph. So for those I can see why they might say its exaggerated without them seeing the bigger picture of what is happening.

Wonder if we will get squally showers during the peak gusts here in East Anglia

Relatively calm in Sheffield so far. Not expecting the peak until after lunch, maybe even this afternoon. Constant showers however very squally when they pass through.

Batch of showers moving in from the west...will that intensify the winds further??

I feel like I've been very fortunate and missed out on most of the crazy winds / damage.

Its quite odd as your region is only posting 45mph gusts at the moment, though there are higher winds further west that may translate eastwards in the next hour.

Yeah I feel lucky, may go out and look at some of the damage later though.

There goes the power

Your joking, already, the worst is no where near us yet, although it's definitely very blustery here. Don't think we'll get the Lull here.

Great stream, only one went through with landing in the last 10mins and it was almost sideways on the runway. Would hate to be flying today.

the wind is that strong in Brighton right now that my mate’s carpet is bulging up and down like it’s breathing.

The wind has been getting worse. Some of my fence panels have blow down, there's a school opposite me and their whole fence has gone and wheelie bins are being blown in to the street.  The sound of the wind is frightening when it hits the house.

We must have a very bad power source I guess?

Gusts are seriously picking up on the NE coast of the Isle of Wight. Nearly saw a family got blown away.

There seems to be a pattern of big gusts with overcast skies followed by sunny spells.
