Winds dropped then picked up again here too, still at the lower end of the forecast severity and not worth more than a yellow warning in my opinion.

It's weather we are used to down south, the wind is arriving before and during showers then relaxing in-between.

Storm Dudley making its presence felt here in Prague, blowing a very noisy hoolie now and forecast to get much worse by morning.

Been pretty gusty here in East Ayrshire but not exceptional for these parts. Huge amount of rain this morning and the odd tree down locally.

More substantial damage not too far from here on the rail line from Kilwinning to Ardrossan and Largs

It's certainly the windiest it's been here for a long time in Northants....I unfortunately have lowered my weather station in order to preserve it.....a long pole on a boat roof isnt a good idea with what's forecast on Friday!!

Thanks for clearing that up, that now makes sense!

Quite blustery here this evening in Colchester, just had to retrieve one plastic dust bin and clear up a broken jam jar which blew off the patio table. Got a bit wet in the process too hehe, only moderate rain but driven by the wind.

The last 3 posts sum up quite well how different people can view pretty much the same weather in totally different ways.

Most of the northern half of the UK from the central belt to the midlands were forecast to have 50 - 60 mph so whether it's blowing a hoolie or a stiff breeze chances are you all had pretty similar conditions today if you were inland and not at significant height.

Having lived in Cornwall I know what a proper gale is hehe

It's just blustery to me, you get blown about a bit, the bins go walk abouts, the plastic flowerpots appear in the garden despite weighing them down or putting away somewhere (ever noticed that? ) and things just generally look wind blown for a few days.

That said, I was in the worst of 87, and that was scary.

Sitting here in Colchester like you, I’d say it’s fairly breezy out there.  We’re just out of town and quite exposed though.

We're quite sheltered from a westerly wind here by the Welsh mountains. I'd be surprised if we had gusts above the 40s here today.

Add a slight NW'ly direction to the wind though and we're completely exposed.

Well it was wild here in Lanark, some good sustained gusts and with some intense squalls which included hail showers one of which triggered a few bolts of lightning one of which struck a fellow stormchasers Stuart Franks house who lives just 150m away from me. #StormDudley

Thankfully no serious damage it took out their landline phones / Internet and electronics but it could have been far worse

The photograph taken by Stuart shows where the lightning scorched the wall and broadband box

Well. It was windy for sure. Worthy of an amber warning? Yes, I think so.

Arwen and Malik were stronger though. All eyes to the South now.
