Looking at the latest Ukv

For Central southern areas, I think the best of the storms have come and gone.

I was hoping to get somewhere to the west,  ahead of the convergence zone, unfortunately the traffic in the area around my work is almost at a standstill, always the case at this time of year on a Friday.

Unfortunately just bad timing, had this been a few hours later I think I would have had a better chance of getting to a decent spot.

chasing daytime storms is not easy!

It's great to see things are looking decent in the south west though, a few more hours of opportunity to come

Good luck guys

A stronger cell approaching Brum from the NE around the Rugeley area may be of interest

Fairly heavy shower passing through here, forming as a result of convergence. Weakened a bit when it reached here, but still had a nice little watering. Didn't see any funnel cloud of sorts.

A complete reverse plume today then. Some rare English exports.

Very true, It makes you think, are the French on the other side of the channel, looking at our storms hoping they make the crossing 😂

Somehow I doubt it, but you never know.

I'm currently sat in the car, not far from, Shaftesbury, I can just make out the tops of the cells moving towards Weymouth but they appear to be fading.

Just waiting out this rain that's passing over, before deciding if I'm going to go back home.

I get the feeling that if the sun comes out, there might be a few stragglers that might pop up before eventually fading as we head towards sunset.

What are peoples thoughts on the next few hours?

According to Chris F on the Beeb, 19mm of rain fell this afternoon in less than 2 hours at Benson in Oxfordshire.

Benson. The village that never fails to deliver extremes.

Wow the last 18z and 00z are really going for it with the >2000 j/kg Cape on the 31st of May and the 1st of June. Although it will probably change like all long range models 🤞

Thinking back to the massive overnight thunderstorms in Hampshire on 31st May / 1st June 1983. History repeating itself 40 years later perhaps?

I was on duty at Herstmonceux in East Sussex that night - one of the most thundery night shifts in my career in the Met Office.

Dark cloud to the west, nothing currently forecast but are there any supporting factors or other reports.
