Don't think there's enough heat in the UK for me to hate it. 😂

Probably a different story if I lived in the depths of central south Spain or the middle east where half the year temperatures exceed 30°C or 40°C daily respectively.

I am going to join now just in case 🤣

Hopefully this summer will NOT be a repeat of last summer, and this thread will be remarkably quiet, I can hope...

As I said in another thread What is interesting is that I was born in 1957, and had an interest from meteorology from probably 10 or 11, growing up in the 60s and early 70s I could never have envisaged 40C (104F in the units in use around that period) being acheived in the UK. It was the sort of temperature associated with the Mediterranean and Africa. 36C was the record back then, with even the summer of 1976 only almost breaking the record.

It's been very cool this spring for sure and likely to warm up considerably into June and more particularly July.

Expecting the usual 18-23c in Bridlington and the occasional 24-27c but 32-36c is a good bet for the usual hotspots inland in July/early August.

I can't imagine the heat haters will have anything to complain about if the next 4 months are anything like this spring has been so far!

They will complain if we have a week of 28-32c.

Which we won't get if June-September is as bad as the spring has been!

I think this is looking more and more like a poor 1980s summer. Maybe 2 weeks of hot sunny weather if we are lucky.

July 1985 and June 1986 were at least sunnier than average, in that spell of awful summers.

It's more that the same people would then be telling others that a 16-20c week in summer is normal and not to complain about it.

I think it’s pathetic when we get a week of hot weather, and some people on here say ‘it’s global warming’ or ‘it’s dangerous heat’ when in reality it’s just an exceptional spell of hot weather.

But, we get a spell of cloudy 19-21c for 6 weeks, and all they say to that is ‘well, we had some hot days exceeding 30c this summer’ lol.

I agree with this.

Those summers were vile.

I would take 1987 over those two, and even 87 was bad.

Felt a bit warm today at 16c in full sun but thankfully there was a nice brisk breeze to cool me down. Can stay this temp all summer if it wants lol.

Got to be very honest this is turning out to easily be the best Spring in terms of weather for several years, so comfortable, not to warm but not to cold, good spells of sunshine, surprisingly at the weekends as well. Not overly wet during daylight hours, so yep, 5 stars so far and just May to go so fingers crossed it stays the same, plenty of time for sleepless uncomfortable nights to come in June and July, the longer we can eat into that time the better.

I don’t need 30c now, but I would be happy with a week of 23-25c.

Looks like 30C is back next week for Edmonton. Surely this would make it one of the warmest first halves of May. Some summer months don't even reach that.

Meanwhile here, a high of 19C. Feels quite warm given we've been stuck under benign conditions.
