Fair few storms about today, wasn't really expecting much away from Scotland or Ireland, but a short-lived storm developed just to my south. Can see a fair few towers that way again, perhaps benefiting from outflow of other showers around the area.

Hell of a cloud burst in the end, 20 seconds of hail at the worst point.

Convective Outlook ⚡

SBCAPE in excess of 800 J/KG will allow for widespread showers and thunderstorms to form. They could potentially be very active at times with lightning activity. Generally weak DLS will keep lightning activity down.

Lightning activity should be kept in the afternoon and evening hours. With a typical daytime heating trigger.

The storms will last into the early night but likely lose lightning activity late evening. Most CAPE will be held surface based from heating.

Given the CAPE there's a small chance of some near severe hail in isolated patches. Along with surface flooding given the moisture available.

Hi gang , just had ten minutes of torrential rain, very small cell on radar which seemed to hover and at one point split apart to be only a few pixels. Then a very short burst of steroid sized rain for just a minute then Silence , surprisingly no lightning, Very warm seas with cooler air aloft , bring on winter gang if only but ya never know ! Cheers to you all and yes I'm still on the sausage baps Stella's all round .

Seeing distant flashes to the NE from that storm off North Norfolk! Looks pretty active. Looking forward to tomorrow, slack winds underneath cool air aloft across the board. Could be a beautiful day for some CB cloudscapes. Wouldn’t rule out funnel clouds near local convergence zones, ie near the coast from sea breeze convergence and storm outflow.

Quite a bit of convergence in the North sea at the moment.

Hey - thanks for the great forecast! I only ask that if possible you can add some time data for regional areas, so where you say the lightning could last into the evening hours are you referring to the eastern extents of the SLGT zone? Or the moderate / high risk areas as plotted?

Tony @ UKWW provides forecasts that include this level of detail and it makes all the difference 🙂

I only ask / suggest as I really think you could provide some essential reading for future events, but there are a few significant things that if properly addressed would make these stand out as something special 👍👍👍

Nothing electrical as yet, but looks like a convergence zone setting up on the south coast.
