Starting to hear thunder in the distance here now and temps are dropping..

Edit- Storm just skimmed me to my West.

Storm at Bristol will make it's way over in my direction if it survives.

There were some good cloud formations today but no thunder heard here. Lightning over Southampton I saw on my tracker, but I was too late to the party.

Saw some great structures over Manchester earlier, pics taken from the M6.  Arrived in Macc a little while ago just in time for half a dozen or so of flashes and loud thunder.  Pink lightning it was too.

It’s weird how some areas just miss everything. Very strange.

Yeah, there’s nothing here either but last night there were a number of storms between 11pm and about 4am.

It’s been quite an active period for thundery weather in many areas, but on different days. Maybe Andover will get a storm in the next few days.

Yeah I know. You haven’t had one since 2019.

I don’t remember getting anything during 2019, apart from some rumbles the morning after that really hot day in July.

Only had a shower with large raindrops this afternoon, otherwise it was dry with plenty of sunshine today.

It seems to have decayed into a very wet mess as it’s moving over Wiltshire. However the lightning detectors appear to be having a mare.

Highly localised downpour which I perfectly missed by accident by dropping a relative off on the far western side of Coventry (Tile Hill) driving on the A45 eastern bypass to get there, after a stroll east of the city.

When driving back the eastern side of the city centre ring road was completely dry but on the western side about half a mile away, everything soaked. My station recorded 16mm/hr rainfall rates. Shows how localised these showers can be, with this one in particular forming over the city centre.

Been some thunderstorms again in East Yorkshire today, with a funnel cloud spotted, with a good picture in the Yorkshire and E England discussion.

Och well, another day under a thunderstorm warning, another day of nothing. I guess I should be used to it by now? 😁

Chris F on the Beeb this evening was talking of a pronounced convergence line tomorrow running down the spine of the Pennines, which could create some electrical activity, and this just happens to be where I shall be travelling tomorrow afternoon on my way to N Yorkshire. I will see what happens.

Quite spectacular structure today. N of York, no visual bolts, or rumbles, but the lightning app said there were some in this beauty

Convective Outlook ⚡

Intense showers will develop across Eastern England bringing the risk of sporadic lightning possibly the odd thunderstorm.
