It’s been an ok day overall as I heard my first rumble since early July and managed to get some nice convection pics and Timelapse’s. I also managed to get a small funnel and had to include the Adorable nut-filled squirrel stalking me while I was taking the photos !😀

Not sure if that is a funnel or scud, hard to tell if it's attached to the base.

Looks like a Red Kite in that photo.

I am pretty sure it is attached to an updraft base after close inspection so I am pretty sure it’s just scud.

Took this picture of one of the approaching showers earlier. This one died before it arrived but was nice for some of the others to make it here giving a few rumbles.

Convective Outlook ⚡

Intense showers will develop across Eastern England bringing the risk of sporadic lightning possibly the odd thunderstorm.

Arome afternoon looks similar...  could be a few surprises... yet disappointment 200 metres further down/up the road 😉

Some great looking convection about. Showers to my north have also electrified.

Just been enjoying that shower to the north of you. My weather station picked up 74mm/h of rain at one point. Very impressive rainfall but haven't heard any thunder despite the spherics. I guess the rain could have drowned it out

Surely not? Convergence line last night on the BBC forecast had the line just to the East of the Pennines which is where Rufus (above) has shown it now. And the forecast this morning confirmed potentially heavy showers in Central and Eastern England which is where they appear to be breaking out now. Meanwhile, further West here, we seem to be brightening up, again as forecast.

Not one thunderstorm over my house this year so far. Deeply disappointed.

Just one nearby rumble early May.

Haven't had any either over my house in these parts but have heard quite a few rumbles

Very intense downpour with thunder and gusty winds just zipped through here. Absolutely biblical rain!

Really did look like a proper tornado ha ha. Wasn't though. The scud above really completes it.

The forecast I had from yesterday evening, had the line from the Pennines all the way down into South East Kent. However today it was further east than that and into East Anglia

It was quite a hefty storm, and there was another one behind that.

This from the Met. yesterday would have had you thinking we were in with a good chance of some evening storms along that cold front on Friday. The reality at the time on every other model was vastly different, with that low hundreds of miles further southeast. Their model is on board this morning at last. Not one to bash the Met when it's not needed, but that's a hopeless way to end a week ahead forecast when every other model showed a completely different day.

They don't religiously stick to their own model, the Mets forecast is based on a blend, I very much doubt this frame would have made it into the actual ten day forecast they put out, if it was on its own. Just realized this was the forecast. Probably supported at the time by other det models they use.
