It appears that the Isle of Wight is a repelling magnet for any snow this cold spell 😅

All models have snow everywhere else except the Island, its completely clear. Its bizarre.

Happy new year folks -  back to work now and so have better access to the forums....don't ask.

Looking good for some dry weather now which is such a blessed relief!!! Dartmoor is generally a bog but its nearly as sodden as i can ever remember it!

A quick look back to 2023 the average temperature for the year in my location was 11.2c on a par with 2022.

December 2023 averaged at 7.9c the warmest December in the 5 years I started recording weather observations.

I should think this months average temperature will be a lot lower looking at the charts!

Overnight low here was 3c

Cheers all

I'd say the last laying snow was in 2018. Which isn't probably too dissimilar to many other southern regions. Very dependent on wind direction here. An easterly would be best for us here with a channel low.

The rest of south is looking excellent for potential snow, obviously things can and will change slightly but this is definitely our best chance since 2018 👍

I wouldn’t get too caught up with anything you read in the model discussion thread if you value your sanity!  😁😁

I’m not really sure what they are all getting hysterical about in there.  The outlook for the foreseeable (after today’s rain) is predominantly dry, turning colder with chilly days and some frosty nights.  That’s about it!

After mid month, who knows, that’s pie in the sky currently.

If it makes it to Lymington, you'll get some!

Morning All, ready for a decent soaking, floods, blocked roads, power outages, yes, I thought you were. So here it is at the moment.

Think I'll go out the buckets out they need filling (!), anyway lets get on. The overnight low, well down in single digits was 3.1°C at: 08:20, showing with clear skies and no easterly the air is fairly cool. Currently 7.4°C, RH96% and no air movement at the moment.

On Golden sands, all is calm

Rest assured the radar wouldn’t look like it does today if it was a potential snow event 😅

Piddling down! 9.4mm so far.

Even my sandy-loam soil is puddling up in the flower beds. You know it's wet here when that happens.

Can hear rain steadily falling again,  absolutely vile .

Should be the last of the heavy rain mind you for a while. Sun icons on my weather apps for a good few days:-) .

All those getting excited by the odd snow grain in the south east next week! Well I say why wait till next week. If you're prepared to climb up to 2000ft on dartmoor, the future is already here! 🤪😂😉😁👍

Absolutely hissing down, all the toads are flooded around Poole. In a store just now  and struggle to hear others talk the rain is making so much noise on the tin roof.

Horrible out there. Dropped the OH in Waitrose and wandered down to see how they're getting on with the Salisbury River project. The planting from 6 weeks ago is now well under water.

Took my fishing brolly, so was able to escort a drenched Mum and pram to the clinic along there. 🌧️☂️

Popped to the garden centre on the way back for an extra soaking.

Absolutely smashing it down, just had to rescue my son from an understandably abandoned football training session. Some pretty serious street flooding now.
