No frost this morning . Temp 0.6c dp -2, but cold wind, especially standing on the platform waiting for the train this morning. Wrap up and stay warm everyone.

Also no frost here with the strong breeze - currently 0.7c but feeling much colder.

I see there’s regional squabbling again in the model thread. Some saying it’s great at day 9 for snowmageddon (when will they learn) when M4 south is under rain. How they think it’s going to end that way I don’t know, let alone being so confident they start up with the “well it’s great for us” party.
Edit: I note that when someone more southerly mentions it looks great for the north and they just hope it improves for south they still get shouted at!

I am due to travel from Nottingham to Hemel to attend a funeral of a relative on the morning of the 19th 🥴 If these charts come close to fruition, I doubt very much I would get there!

Stunning charts this morning - Thanks to all who contribute so much of their time and knowledge to this forum

Just hope the weather stays cold enough for any snowfall not to melt quickly to exacerbate the flooding issues in the South East!

Well although the snow didn't amount to much here it was still nice to see some falling and radar watching and so on.

I'm not saying my snow fix is now down but I do feel slightly more relaxed knowing I've seen some falling snow at least this winter and in 2024.

...The only way is up? 😁

My next point of interest is a week from now (Tues 16th).....Potential for a Wintry mix at least?

Of course you don't.🤪

Hope all is well this morning.👍

I hate riding in this weather - the wind is freezing off my face.🥶

Next week still to play for and two snowfall days thus far this winter.

We would all like more but we are already better than some of the dreadful years of late.

This January HAS to deliver the white stuff...yesterday was such a microscale event! graupel and hail doesn't do it for me, 2013 and STILL waiting.

Somehow we managed to get 2cm settled right by the coast here yesterday, had a line of heavy showers for over an hour straight which managed to get it past the tipping point to settle.

and a nuisance...seems like of recent years when snow chances do pop up they're either marginal (as per Jan 2021) or on such  a small scale only part of a county or coastal areas are effected. Roll on for a massive memory making dumping! If I'm still alive 😁

Latest in MAD thread: UKMO - stunning (lots of tongues hanging from mouths, smiling heart shaped eyes emojis) - GFS - 'bin it' 'what's it doing' (just the other day posters salivating over it). You couldn't make it up...could be GEM's turn tomorrow for much love as UKMO is given the boot!

There is  no such thing , days like yesterday I call safe snow, you watch the beauty of it falling, and temporary coverings, then don't slip e everywhere afterwards.

Beautiful crisp winters day today. Maxed out at 3 down to 1 now.

Should be a decent frost tonight.

It's nuts. I always dip out after morning wake up. Return after work and gauge how much .... has been spoken. Today it was 23 pages between 7am and now. It is such a fun game to play

This is what I wrote on FB on this day 14 years ago:

I thought half-a-foot of snow was impressive yesterday. Now we've got inches more, strong winds and drifting! Like the good ol' days of yore

The mad thread northern section seem pretty happy, us southerners don't particularly seem to be that joyful. Many imby posts along with new posters I don't seem to recognise. Bless their cottons!!! I am feeling sorry for the mods however. Getting mad thread fatigue so going to have to take a break from there. And mad thread is certainly living up to it's name!

Pretty darn chilly today as well. Felt much colder than yesterday I thought. I saw some cars managed to maintain a little dusting of snow this morning, unless we had a rogue snow shower overnight. At least the ice risk has apparently cleared so can get back to cycling tomorrow

The bbc are going for 5 to 7 degrees next week.

Shame it won't be 1 or 2! Or lower!

Nothing in Brighton beyond wet pavements and roads yesterday. Quite a surprise arriving home further West on the train.  Still looking nice this morning.
