Currently 2.7c in Darlo. Can't see anything bar rain or sleet at low levels should it get here.

Will definitely turn to snow if it gets heavy later on but probably just wet snow at low levels

NorthEastSnow they've been way off the mark all winter. I think for whatever reason, our climate has took a massive change in direction now and this could be the norm for our winters going forward

NorthEastSnow yeah mates near coast just rain still. Had snow a bitb earlier but mostly light graupel. The apps suggest a few hours of it but looking at radar, certainly seems altitude required

Some quite noticeable bigger flakes amongst the rain in the heavier bursts.

Other places seem to be doing well with road closures etc, Just another frustrating time to be in the North East.

Bit of a dilemma really - frontal snow from the south results in an Easterly wind off the sea here. With SSTs still well higher than normal, that's never going to end well for anyone along the coastal strip (probably up to 20km inland). You could see that reflected on the warning area, which very specifically didn't include the coastal strip.

I'm surprised it's snowed as much as it has - it never seemed that cold to me.

Looking at the Co Durham road cams, you have to go west and up as far as Tow Law (300m) to see anything settling. Lanehead has snow on the road at 400m.
