Personally I don’t get the fascination with cold weather, if we get snow then yeah great but bone chilling cold and dry doesn’t float my boat at all, would rather stormy and mild

I'm with you on this one, having cold without snow is like xmas without gifts, it is just bland and ultimately miserable. I too like a good ole storm, if it don't snow then it has to be mild and stormy or mild and dry.

It wouldn’t be a total surprise if the famous P hollow gets a low of -9 at some point tonight 🫡

Early April 2021 most notable case and February 2021 easterly. This spell have to admit been some quite low dewpoints as well.

Agreed, Only interesting thing is to see how frozen ponds or a bucket of water in the garden gets otherwise pointless cold. I'd prefer mild and sunny in a heartbeat over cold and sunny, and even stormy and mild if no snow. Dry cold air also makes my skin quite dry which I find unpleasant. Cold is made so much worse with no snow or proper visible frost 🤣

I bet we have a dry frost though

Yes sort of a 'black frost', but I think the temperatures would need to be much colder for that, probably below -10C while humidity under 80%. it's -4.4C with a humidity of 81% so still pretty cold. Surrounding countryside down to -5C to -6C.

Im waiting for @CoventryWeather cheshire gap snow update this morning!!its gona be a 200 mile long streamer straight through the midlands and into east anglia🤪🤪!!!currently -7dew point -8👀!!

Not as good this morning, still the French models bringing some into the region but not as far, perhaps Stoke/Stafford but easing.

The UKV remains uninterested in anything but hasn't been brilliant last few days.

The Swiss is probably the most promising with plenty of showers feeding inland by 10/11, but again fades quickly after midnight.

The Swiss has done well with the east coast snow this morning, so no promises 😁
