This is the first time we've had more than 8 wet months on the trot since 1872; it's not normal.

As i and many others have said, we are in uncharted territory now with our climate. The changes and speed of changes will only increase from now on.

Yesterday was beautiful.  Today, the opposite, horrible.

Cloudy, persistently wet and cool;

Why does yesterday have to be a one day wonder?!

Wade It sounds like you're implying that without the excessive rain we'd have arid landscapes, but apologies if I misunderstood.

Cloudy, spitting and a cool breeze that makes it unpleasant to be outside in. The nuclear winter goes on and on

Thought this might be interesting as the Met Office forecasts have been mentioned a few times here.

Can you spot the difference between these 2 forecasts for the upcoming week both for my location?

Well apparantly the top one is based off "older" model data, while the bottom one is newer enhanced data they are trialing which you can select to change on desktop. I wonder if due to the more sunshine symbols, it counts high level cloud as partly sunny now perhaps?

Wade unfortunately a lush green landscape by the end of July means a poor summer. Brown grass and that dusty smell please. Rains enough during the rest of the year thanks…

Summer8906 I was stating that ridiculous temps like 40C in summer 2022 combined with all that dry weather creates straw like grass, so yes you misunderstood but I'll accept your apology

Alderc 2.0 No lush grass by the end of July means rain and sun have been in good supply, straw implies a drought or prolonged heatwave which ain't healthy for wildlife or elderly folk

Alderc 2.0 I’m with you mate. Genuinely hope it doesn’t rain again (minus thunderstorms) until November

Finally clouding over now but can't complain too much as was better than expected. My area should have snatched a rare 50%+ sunshine day unless their recorder is fooked lol. Fingers crossed that next week delivers decent amounts of sunshine throughout for all 🤞

Its gone from sunny to cloudy in the space of two hours. I wouldn't be surprised if it rains soon.

All I want is two dry days in a row so I can cut the grass, but its looking unlikely now!

Metwatch My gawd, you're my new lord & saviour! Just applied this change and the forecast looks MILES better!! Really appreciate this info man! Whether its more accurate or not, who knows, but its definitely better for the mentality seeing a forecast like this!

Metwatch they really need to as I find met office forecasts usually paint a pessimist view on sunshine…they have for next week overall and I’ll bet we have lots more sunshine than their forecast suggests

TwisterGirl81 I think the best forecasts actually come from the weather channel on android phones, totally superior forecasts actually, and outdo bbc/met office.

Azazel I don't think you're stupid (I do think you're sarcastic and rude) but I am just making the point you can't expect it to not rain whatsoever for 5 months straight, not even 1975/76 managed that.

Wade you’re conflating hope with expectation again. I never once said I ‘expect’ it not to rain. It’s the U.K. I fully expect it to be absolutely miserable for 95 percent of the time. This doesn’t stop me hoping for a Mediterranean summer, however unlikely it may be.

Azazel Well you said you genuinely hope which isn't much different to an expectation, there is a difference between a hoping for something that is likely and hoping for something that isn't gonna happen

AWD you must have it worse 'across town'; as our few spots of rain from a couple of hours ago came to nothing. Having said that  we're forecast rain in next hour.

Wade it’s completely different lol what are you talking about?

I hope I win the euromillions but I don’t expect to hit the jackpot anytime soon.

I hope Rihanna gives me a shoutout on her next album but I don’t expect that to happen either.
