Scottish weather discussion - Spring 2023/24

[Northernlights]

Another cold breezy day but at least the afternoon was sunny but wind still cold. Grass here showing purple tipping just cold stress at night.  Currently7c

-0.1c the low so an air frost.

Drier than of late but still cool and uninspiring. Garden at the new house very slow to get going in terms of growth.

Dull(ish), calm, dry and it has managed to climb from around 2C overnight to an uninspiring 5.5C currently.

A low of -0.4c, was frosty when I was up at 4am. 
Down in Merseyside today, lovely and sunny. Winds were light, so much so the midges (the really tiny ones) were surprisingly a nuisance.
 

Reliably informed it’s been a decent day back home. Home weather station is at 11.9c. At least April has finally calmed down and we’re getting some warm sunshine.

Only 12c but feels much warmer in the sun. Great day of getting stuff done in the garden. Sitting outside with a beer. Lovely

A pleasant enough 13 here with light winds and almost unbroken sunshine.  Do forecasters still look at tephigrams these days, or do they slavishly follow models?  If they had of they’d see that convective infill wasn’t happening today.

Sunny Spring day here in Falkirk. Stole this picture of my home town from Facebook. It rained the whole time we were down there last week, sigh.

Beautiful day after a chilly start, went for a run this morning and then spent the rest of the day cutting the grass and tidying the garden. Like 101 said it felt warm in the strong sunshine and I even managed to get sunburnt

Pretty grey start although some hazy sunshine broke through later on - definitely not warm though! Chilly breeze all day.

Same here Snowandrocks, warm sun but cold air. Kind of day when you never feel just right!

Yep, maxed out at 8.5C here today, but with a noticeable north wind it felt much cooler than that. Stayed dry though, apart from the odd brief shower, and the sun did try to make an appearance, largely unsuccessfully.

Cool here too after an overnight frost. Some sunny intervals but mostly cloudy. Saw this swan working on her nest this afternoon while the dad was keeping a wary eye on a nearby heron. He eventually charged towards it but in reality scared the geese more than it.

Heading north to the calm of the Highlands. Stopped overnight at Annandale Days Inn, always a pleasant wander around the lock. Dry but chilly start to proceedings this morning.

Where  has the dry weekend  gone Its pouring  here this morning Got grass seed sown yesterday so some progress.

A few days ago Sunday was forecast to be dry with a pleasent 16 deg/C temperature...then it flipped to a cool rainy day.

How disappointing...my grass cutting plans for today were totally scuppered.

Took a while but cloud finally clearing. Despite the cloud tho been one of the warmest places in the UK today it looks like (how often can we say that)

What a crackerjack of a day it is. A few puffy clouds nothing major. Pretty warm too. Lovely jubbly!

Meanwhile over in the NE it feels like Winter again thanks to a strong northerly wind pegging temperatures to 7.5c whilst accompanied by a few light rain showers and the briefest of sunny intervals.

Back lawn still barely growing and thus has still to get the first cut of the year, and its May a week tomorrow!

a bit of sun here too but very cold northerly wind too, Spring barley slow to emerge. No real grass growth but will probably put cattle out this coming week end and feed them outside. Currently 8c after 3c early morning Really depressing weather.

Patchy cloud here too. Feels ok when sun is out but a cool Northerly breeze in the shade. 11C but feels colder.
