I was wondering about that too but haven't seen it mentioned since this afternoon.

You have now, its more NE Scotland the red though.

Grid values for UKV at 3am, can see why they issued a red wind warning

UKV_03z.thumb.JPG.0f65bf5d2f61d76f71a3d2509327635b.JPG

That region of up to 100mph gusts has been on UKV since 09Z run this morning... Why drop a red warning with 1 hour notice? Don't get it at all.

I think we've just had our 1st gust of 60mph or just over.

Strongest gusts so far in Cardiff now. Nothing too unusual for here, but size of the wind field clearly impressive.

An upgrade in wind speeds on latest 21z UKV for NE Scotland, particularly right at the coasts. Perhaps explaining the red warning here.

Agree 100%. The most impressive aspect of this storm (so far, I am mindful of the red warning just out) is the sheer scale of the wind field. Across southern Britain - based on posts here and my experience driving from Surrey to S Wales between 1900 to 2120 - the intensity has perhaps been unremarkable. Some strong gusts and rainfall but not out of the ordinary.

Peak gusts from today across the UK so far.

Defo gusting more than that right now here.

The Tay bridge has been closed to all vehicles so must have recorded over 80 mph.

I'd rate Storm Isha a definite 8 out of 10, for longevity alone. Based on local recordings, I've experienced gusts in the high 50's, which is very rare for my location. It's still absolutely howling.

It's really not bad here in the north east do you think it's peaked for here?

Will get worse soon in Eastern areas on the leeward side of the hills as is often the case. Red warning now in NE Scotland for example.

Squall-line forming between mid-wales and York? it's starting to get noticeably gusty here again ahead of that developing feature.

Really?  I'm only up the A12 from you and wouldn't have it as remarkable for our area at all.  Gusty, sure, but nothing of particular note.

Thought this would be interesting to send in here, all red weather warnings by Met Office since 2011 collated by @BruenSryan

Most in a year is 3 in 2015 and 2022, with 4 issued in winter 2015-16 and 3 of which were in December 2015. No reds in 2017 and 2019.

nothing managing to land at Edinburgh yet planes still taking off  from London heading to edi which I can't understand. If thought was dying down soon planes wouldn't be diverting to Germany from Edi.... amazing to see a plane take off from Shannon for a 40 min flight to edi and gonna end up on a plane for 2 and a quarter hours and land in cologne 🤣

The wind is super load now, I can feel it shaking the house. Neighbours Chairs have been flung across their garden and power lines swinging violently. Also trees are bending a concerning amount.
