 East Lancs Rain

I didn’t realise Rochdale was so wet! Yes without the Pennines I suspect our average rainfall would meet somewhere in the middle. Snow streamers from the North Sea would probably reach the Isle of Man lol

Nice clear, cool morning to kick off Feb in my area.

4c, with 9c the high later, and completely dry. Could be alot worse!

 In Absence of True Seasons

Sounds nice. Here in Czechia it’s vile this morning, overcast and chucking it down, feeling chilly at 4°C

Alderc 2.0 the metoffice forecasts are nearly always gloomy - this never usually transpires. Its been like that for years, its a bit odd as you'd have thought they'd find a way to address this

Not sure the Meto forecasts are that great to be honest.

I don't take them too literally but at the same time, once the milder westerlies come back in i'm not expecting that much sun which is from tomorrow. Today so far has been better than forecast which is always welcome.

But I'd rather it forecast cloud then it ends up being a lot sunnier in reality, much better than the other way round. Looking at the UKV as well can give me a better idea if there is a chance of it being sunnier than forecast.

Not sure how accurate this is, but a local weather station near me has recorded just 16 hours of sunshine and 122 mm of rain this January… Yet another wet and dull month here! 😩

Currently dry, overcast (what a surprise) and 6.8°C.

Sadly turning into yet another failed winter here. No lying snow at all in January, which is absolutely appalling for my location, and nothing on the horizon.

I've had no luck over the last two winters. No luck at all.

I feel for those living in ever-expanding towns and cities, as I once did. I can remember leaving work at Fort Dunlop at the millennium, the temperature was 2.0C lower at the edge of the city.

More people, more houses, more cars, all adds to the urban heat. Even waste water can warm up cold roads.

Additional to my last! Net weather was right after all, just leapt up to 6.0C.

Think we’re currently on the cusp of two colliding weather fronts, glancing from cold to warm (er) like in a pin-ball machine( remember them?!)

East Lancs Rain I used this one a while back but didn't find it accurate enough- I saw a few times on the satellite that it was clear over that area but they still recorded nothing lol. Hazelrigg station in Morecambe, Lancashire, have a sunshine recorder but unfortunately, I haven't found a way to find their data yet as I'd like to put them in my sun table haha.

*Stormforce~beka* What the actual F. This would be an absolute catastrophe!! Late SSW's are as useful as using a pair of chopsticks to open a jar of gherkins. If this rubbish happens for the 2nd year in a row and ruins yet another Spring, I will gouge my eyeballs out.

As far as I know, there's already been a SSW this winter and it didn't last too long. I believe that started out with all the same fantastic signals too. Anyway, given how persistent the heights are over Iberia, I'd be surprised if it got anywhere near us.
